188- Frontline (2)
188- Frontline (2)
“You know that you are in the Star System, correct?” Dian said. The group nodded.
“Numerous star systems formed a galaxy. And numerous galaxies formed a Starfield. Numerous Starfields formed a Universe and numerous Universes formed a Universe Field. Do you get it?” Dian said as if this knowledge was precious.
Charlene had a look of sudden inspiration while Ame was seeking to have an opportunity for her family to get acquainted with the people in the know. Tatsumi wondered how powerful the experts at the Frontline was while Long Wu wondered whether his undead element transcendent energy would cause him trouble.
It was because of the look the individuals around him gave him, looking down on him. Long Wu was dissatisfied and wanted to prove himself right away, while Bore looked around and grew cheerful, as he liked the vibe of the place.
“I see. So those individuals we are looking for are probably stronger than us. Let’s be careful.” Tatsumi then tried to avoid making eye contact with anyone else other than his group and Dian.
He felt that his mental scan was being felt and countered. Tatsumi concluded that scanning other people's minds was considered rude and made a mental communication with the group.
‘Don’t carelessly use your mental scan to gauge everyone here. They considered that rude and breaching privacy.’ Tatsumi reminded them.
Charlene nodded. Ame looked a bit dissatisfied but agreed on what was going on. The others also did not let their mental scan reach others, limiting themselves for self-protection as well as the group’s safety.
But for the others who usually frequent this place, the group’s presence was weird.
“That group of individuals, aren’t they too weak to be here?” A half-beast elephant swept his trunk as he said this while looking at Dian and his group, even his sense gauged that the group was two ranks weaker than the average power of this Stargate.
“You are right. They are probably escorted by someone important. Beware that even though they are weak, their backer probably is not.” Another sentient jellyfish which was floating in the room commented.
That was what those people agreed on. Although Dian and his group were weak, they did not immediately look down on them. But they became wary instead.
That was why no one wanted to get closer to them since they did not know who the backer of that group was.
Dian then opened the Message list and realized that Tritis was on the way. He just needed to wait.
“Alright, we need to wait.” Dian said while turning his body around and told the group.
“For how long?” Bore asked.
“Approximately ten minutes of space environment.” Dian replied while figuring out the time differences.
“Why is it that the others are condescending to me?” Long Wu commented.
“Teacher, you need to remember that the Undead Race is discriminated against, so the gods of the undead are also looked down upon by various races.” Tatsumi replied quickly.
“Because I possess the undead element, they categorized me as an undead too!?” Long Wu now felt like life had become more difficult for him. But then he thought that this was an opportunity to make those who looked down on the undead element see that their assessment was a bit off.
He was a bona fide human who wielded the undead element, not some undead race!
“I wish that I could bring my wife, like you.” Long Wu said with a slight sad tone.
“But doesn’t she have an important position in the Cerulean Planet?” Tatsumi stated.
“Argh, fine. At least we will make sure that the Outer Being is truly a threat to us all. I wish my family were safe and sound.” Long Wu said irritably but understandably.
“Right, what is an Outer Being anyway? Is it something formidable?” Bore asked.
“Whatever that is, we need to assess their capability in the Frontline.” Charlene said while already predicting something related to the Outer Being from what Dian had shared with them.
Then the group spent time talking about their division of labor. Basically, they needed to delegate tasks to some while there was a core fighting group.
Charlene agreed to become the leader of the logistics and support.
Ame became the processing part of the group, handling intelligence.
Tatsumi and Long Wu became the main force of combat.
The rest was shared between Charlene and Ame. Bore wanted to follow Tatsumi but was held by his still weak body. Therefore, he became the bridge between all of them.
Bore became so busy coordinating that he learned that this was a white-collar job. Then he became enthusiastic about it.
“She’s arrived.” Dian said while looking at the side where the various races parted ways to give way to someone.
“She is as popular as ever.” Dian commented, shaking his head.
“You are here.” Tritis nodded while her veil was flowing like ocean waves. She was especially happy to see Dian and his group present. Specifically, Tritis saw the four humans which became the core of the group.
“Yes, Your Excellency. What should my group do next?” Dian asked.
“Follow me.” Tritis was not alone as she was followed by her race. When Dian looked at her group, he felt that part of him was being read, which made him slightly uncomfortable but when they tried to pry deeper, something inside Dian repelled them.
Dian did not expect that Tritis’s race would be overbearing.
“Ah, I am sorry.” Tritis quickly went to Dian and her hands touched Dian’s forehead, just checking his existence.
“No, no. It’s my fault for not reining in their behavior.” Tritis looked at Dian and his group with an apologetic look while looking a bit harsh toward her group.
Tatsumi knew what was going on. That group dared to even disrespect the Father God and that made him have a flame of anger in his heart. But he held in since Dian himself did not comment on it.
The others also did not fare better. It was the grace of the Father God that they still alive to this day. The fact that someone like them ‘tested’ Dian made them disturbed in terms of heart calmness.
They furrowed their brows but still did not speak up for Dian. Because this was also a test from them to Dian.
“They should be careful with that. Not everyone has my temper.” Dian cleared out a strand of hair from his forehead and said with a smile to Tritis.
“You are still a Planet Master. If my race offends you, it is right that they should apologize.” Tritis said.
“What are you looking at? Apologize to this one, right now!” Tritis seriously looked at her group and even raised her voice a bit.
Tatsumi could even see them smacking their lips; clearly, they did not expect Tritis to be this fierce.
“We…apologize.” The leader of the group went to the front. Tatsumi could see that she was a female since their form was similar to a human but their skin was white like white jade, glistering and reflecting light.
“I understand that you are curious why your dearest deity suddenly pays attention to me and you are also curious about me. But to probe so deeply, isn’t that a bit rude?” Dian pursued the matter since this was an unspoken rule among the transcendent.
Before they could even argue their case, Dian quickly spoke.
“But now your curiosity should be satiated. So let’s end this matter here and don’t cause trouble anymore for yourself."
The group that Tritis brought nodded their head. Although they had divined that there was a race that could fight with the Outer Being, they became interested in said race. But the view of that race became blurry and hard to see after some time.
‘We believed that is due to the race and the Planet Master getting stronger. Now that we look at them closely, they are extraordinary. A pressure of Rank 3 despite the transcendent base of Rank 2…if this can be maintained, when they reach Rank 8, wouldn’t they be able to be equal to a Rank 9 transcendent?’
“For our group to work together, it is better to introduce ourselves to each other.” Dian knew that Tritis brought out the elite group from her race, and Dian also brought the most elite individuals among his races.
“Yes. That’s right. Should we do it as we go to the Stargate Supervisor?” Tritis said.
Dian nodded in agreement. That would be fast and efficient.
“Please introduce yourself to each other. You will be working with them during your stay in the Frontline.” Dian said.
Tatsumi smacked his lips, did not know what to say. But since it was better to work seamlessly, Tatsumi was the first to stick himself out.
“Uhm…are you a lady or a gentleman? Anyway, my name is Tatsumi.” Tatsumi said while the two groups walked and he introduced himself that way.
“I am considered to be a lady. I am Tabitha. It is nice seeing you like this.” Tabitha was apparently the leader of her group.
‘If she is chosen by that deity of hers, she should be excellent in her duty.’ Tatsumi took this seriously and took note of her.
‘Father God said that this deity specialized in divination. Meaning, that is their main advantage. Our group truly needs them to weave through the Frontline.’ Tatsumi thought while Ame walked on his right and looked at the two.
But she did not say anything and let things go as the way it was.
“What makes you say that? I seem to see that you are too eager to see us, no, seeing the humans.” Tatsumi felt their fervent gazes since earlier, especially when they looked at Dian and then the four of them.
“Well…” Tabitha wanted to say something but then remembered that the divination result was not set in stone yet.
“I just think that the new race has some potential, you see.” Tabitha said after some thought.
Ame caught on that Tabitha was holding some critical information and poked Tatsumi’s waist.
Tatsumi also knew that something was not made clear, clearly saying something a bit obvious without going into detail.
‘Of course, I know that humans have potential. But I feel like them, and we are on different peaks. Even Father God respectfully addresses their deity. Meaning, when they say we have potential, it is a bit greater than what we expect.’ Tatsumi thought while not transmitting through the mental link for fear of the others knowing and even hijacking it.
After all, he could feel that the group that Tritis led was so much stronger than him that it felt despairing.
But the fact that he could feel the difference meant that he still had a chance to bridge the difference. After all, the group was likely a support type rather than the fighting type.
Tatsumi blinked and then continued the conversation.
“So what can you provide on the Frontline? Everyone has a role, I believe.” Tatsumi said casually.
“Hmm, we can help you in gathering the intelligence as well as providing you with the safest option we can derive.” Tabitha replied with a slight smile; confidence surged naturally from her.
Tatsumi and Ame nodded.
Tabitha could see that Tatsumi was actually wanted to get to know them but she also felt the hidden intent behind it.
But to get closer to these humans, she had no choice but to play along with their whims.
Then Tritis and Dian arrived at the reception area.
“You have come here, after all.” There was someone with a high fat percentage on his body; his fat belly was visible, and his frame could shake the ground.
“Stargate Supervisor Nehemoth, it is nice seeing you here.” Tritis nodded while saying this.
“It is my pleasure to help the Ten Venerables. What is it that you want to do here? Bringing in so many of you to the Frontline?” Nehemoth remarked.
“We are going to the Frontline as a special commando unit.” Tritis said seriously.
Nehemoth blinked his eyes and his huge figures trembled before he seemed to receive something.
“Then please show me the permit. Although this is just a formality, it is better to confirm the thing.” Nehemoth said.
"Here. Check it yourself.” Tritis then gave Nehemoth a big card.
Dian and his group were looking at the card and realized that it contained so much information in it, including probably the so-called special commando unit.
Nehemoth received it and scanned it using something that came from his pocket. After a light came from the device, his expression turned hospitable.
“Your permit is legit. Please go to the chamber to be moved to the Frontline.” Nehemoth said.
Tritis then said, “I know the place so follow me.”
Clearly, it was intended for Dian and his group.
Then they moved from the reception area to the chamber which could be used to move things to the Frontline. After walking for some time, the groups finally arrived at the chamber.
Inside, there were numerous supplies for the Frontline. There was also weaponry that Tatsumi did not recognize at first but barely could tell.
“Amazing. This chamber can be used to transport things.” Charlene commented.
“You mean, the entire chamber is used to do things?” Tatsumi asked for confirmation.
Charlene nodded. She looked around and was fascinated by the structure as well as the workings of the chamber itself.
Tritis’ group, however, was surprised to hear that Charlene could understand the workings of the chamber so quickly.
‘As expected from the human. She understood the principle behind the chamber’s purpose.’ Tabitha thought.
“Yes. Furthermore, they also anchored the destination and the departure to make sure that we don’t sway in the moving universe.” Charlene breathed out with excitement.
Tatsumi and Ame knew the function of an anchor. It pinned down the ship when the waves moved things around. That was why this thing could be called an anchoring principle. It was so that they did not move out of their destination.
It made things accurate and increased the accuracy of moving to the destination to be 99.9%.
Long Wu felt glad that the other group did not look down on him just because he possessed the undead element. That was why he could afford to relax a bit.
Bore was interested in the strange weaponry but could only look at it. The others marveled at the chamber after Charlene commented on it.
“Announcement.” A loud voice suddenly cut off the dialogue between individuals.
“It’s here. Are you prepared?” Tritis said.
“Well, since coming here, of course, we are prepared.” Dian said while looking at his group.
He could see Tatsumi’s grin, Ame’s hopeful gaze, Charlene’s excited expression, Long Wu’s interested look and Bore’s focused gaze toward everyone.
“Yes.” Dian’s group replied with one word.
Then Tritis smiled and her group hoped that Dian’s group could handle the rest.
“The chamber will be moved to the Frontline-59.” The announcement repeated this line three times.
“Prepare for Cosmic Shift Calibration…complete.”
“The Anchors are detected on destination…confirmed.”
“Ready at three, two, one and launch.”
Dian could only feel something had changed before the chamber slightly trembled. After that, the tremble stopped.
‘This technology is great. We are likely moving through spacetime, surpassing light itself.’ Charlene thought.
‘What was that trembling for?’ Kudungga grumbled a bit.
‘We likely moved through the artificial quantum tunneling.’ Goto claimed after processing everything from Charlene and the scientist in the Afterlife.
“We have arrived.” Tritis nodded after the trembling stopped. Dian put his hand on his chest as he was worried that something might go wrong.
“Good. I am concerned about the safety but since everyone uses it, it is likely safe.” Dian said.
“Father God, are you afraid?” Tatsumi teased from the side.
“Currently, I am in a form where I can feel pain. Of course, I am worried.” Dian bitterly smiled even though it was an ugly one.
“At least no one will feel sick due to the movement.” Tatsumi confirmed this as he scanned his group and found that everyone was fine.
“Everyone, we have arrived at the Frontline.” Tritis said to Dian’s group. Tabitha looked at the four humans who helped the other races and understood that the humans and the other races were under the Federation.
One Lizardfolk spoke a bit about it so she inevitably knew a bit after doing a simple Seer.
“It is said that this is Frontline-59. What’s so special about it?” Dian asked on behalf of everyone in his group. Tatsumi and the others listened in.
“This place is called Magadan Sector where the Outer Beings kept interrupting the transport of supplies and weaponry.” Tritis explained.
“It is designated as number 59 because this is the fifty-ninth sector right behind the very limit of Frontline. Not quite at the rear but nearest to the front.”
“But first, let’s get out of this chamber.” Dian said and then looked at Tritis and she agreed.
The two groups then heard the announcement that they had arrived in Frontline-59 and cold get out. The door then opened and the crews who were supposed to bring the supplies and weaponry entered while nodding toward Tritis.
Dian was not aware of the importance of Tritis coming to the Frontline.
Tritis on the other hand had to discuss things with the other Venerables about her temporary deployment to the Frontline.
[Yuan: Tritis, where are you?]
[Tritis: Frontline-59. But don’t you dare make any large movements.]
[Gorith: According to my calculation, you should stay in the Universe Field.]
[Tritis: This is extremely important and that is why I am personally going to make sure that everything is fine.]
[Yuan: I will send some of my elite individual races to you. I believe that the Outer Being will be able to sense you still. This is a non-negotiable thing.]
[Gorith: I will also send a mother spaceship to you. Use it as you see fit.]
Tritis thought and probably through this reinforcement, the two other Venerables would learn about the people she carried through.
