100 electronic girlfriends can't cook
"Zero, you, you drink slowly..." Lu Mingfei watched Zero eat lobster tails while drinking vodka, occasionally toasting her.
At first, Zero peeled the shells with her hands and ate slowly. After a few glasses of vodka, she picked up the lobster tail with chopsticks and put it in her mouth. She used her front teeth to bite the shell in the middle, then used her tongue to pry open the shell by moving it back and forth along the bottom of the tail. With a gentle suck, the lobster meat came out.
After the lobster tail was finished, the whole bottle of vodka was also gone, and most of the Mapo Tofu was eaten, but the bok choy was still untouched.
Lu Mingfei was surprised that Zero was so efficient at eating lobster and drinking strong liquor. It seemed that Zero always did things with the optimal solution, and there was nothing that could stump her.
"Give me a beer," Zero seemed to want to finish the remaining food with the beer, not wanting to leave any uneaten dishes.
Lu Mingfei hesitated and said, "Isn't mixing drinks a bit inappropriate? Look at you..."
Zero's complexion remained normal, except for a slight blush. This blush had been there since the beginning of the meal and persisted even after she finished the entire bottle of vodka. Lu Mingfei was unsure whether her blush was due to the alcohol or something else.
In the end, Lu Mingfei obeyed and opened a bottle of beer for Ling.
"Come on." Zero raised her beer again, and Lu Mingfei clinked glasses with her. Zero tilted her head back and took a big gulp, letting out a small burp, the smell of alcohol filling the air.
Lu Mingfei quickly stood up and said, "Let's eat some staple food. It's best with Mapo Tofu noodles!"
The induction cooker hummed as Lu Mingfei boiled water to cook noodles. Ling picked up the trash can, grabbed a few sheets of paper, and swept all the lobster shells off the table. By the time the noodles were served, the table was noticeably cleaner.
"Eat up," Lu Mingfei said. "We've finished all the food today, that's great."
"I ate all of it, but you ate more than before, which is good," Ling said, looking at Lu Mingfei.
"You're in a good mood, aren't you? There's a saying that beauty is food for the eyes, so maybe watching you eat makes me feel better." Lu Mingfei didn't even know what he was saying. Zero's face seemed to turn a little red, but he wasn't sure; he might be drunk.
"You haven't finished your beer since the beginning. You can't eat, but you can't drink either?" Zero put down her chopsticks, her expression suddenly turning stern. She held up a large beer can in her small, fair hand and thrust it in front of Lu Mingfei. "Drink!"
"I'll drink it, I'll drink it!" Lu Mingfei tilted his head back and chugged the beer, finishing the remaining half-can in one go. "Is that enough?"
Ling neither agreed nor disagreed. She took some noodles from her own bowl and put them into Lu Mingfei's bowl, saying, "Let's eat together."
Mapo tofu was poured over the noodles, and with a stir of chopsticks, each noodle was coated with red oil tofu and minced meat. The numbing sensation of Sichuan peppercorns traveled from the tip of the tongue all the way to the back teeth. The two slurped up the noodles, ate some bok choy, and drank beer.
"Are you Russian or from Sichuan?"
"Eat yours."
The two of them buried their heads in their noodles, neither of them saying another word.
After finishing their food, the two toasted again and finished their beer.
"We've finished eating everything," Zero announced.
"Do you never leave any food uneaten?" Lu Mingfei asked.
"We can't waste food." Ling got up to collect the bowls, but Lu Mingfei quickly stopped her.
"Don't move, don't move, let me do it, you sit down."
Lu Mingfei stood in front of the sink, turned on the tap and started washing the dishes. As he washed, he looked into the living room.
Zero sat in the chair, legs tucked under her body, leaning against the backrest, and opened another can of beer. Her head was tilted slightly, her long platinum blonde hair cascading over her shoulders, bathed in the warm yellow light of the kitchen chandelier, giving it a velvety, light gold hue.
She was lost in thought.
Lu Mingfei had never seen Ling in a daze. She did things with the precision and efficiency of a robot. Sometimes Lu Mingfei wondered if she was a terminator sent by the future Dragon King to corrupt him when he couldn't defeat him.
But at this moment, she was sitting there with her head tilted to the side, her gaze fixed on the table, the beer can in her hand slowly tilting, about to spill.
"Zero, your beer," Lu Mingfei reminded him.
Zero snapped out of his daze, looked down at the can in his hand, finished the drink in one gulp, and slammed the empty can onto the table with a thud.
Lu Mingfei was startled by the force and quickly came over. "Are you drunk?"
"I'm not drunk," Zero said. "I'm just thinking."
"What are you thinking about, so engrossed?"
"...I'm going to take a shower later." Zero looked up at Lu Mingfei, her expression unreadable.
Lu Mingfei was startled, not knowing what Ling meant by that. He quickly went back to the kitchen and said, "Then I'll wash the dishes quickly, and I'll go back as soon as I'm done."
After washing all the dishes, he placed them on the drainer and wiped the water stains around the stove and sink with a rag. While doing these things, his mind was blank; he didn't think much. Only the sound of running water, the lemony scent of dish soap, and the girl quietly watching him from behind.
After finishing, Lu Mingfei walked back to the table to say goodbye, only to find Ling leaning back in her chair with her eyes closed.
It turns out that Zero wasn't watching him just now.
Lu Mingfei leaned closer to take a look. Her breathing was even, and the blush on her face hadn't faded yet, which made her fair skin look like the light from a furnace shining through the snow.
Is she asleep?
Should we wake her up, or let her sleep? She sat in the chair with her neck tilted to one side; sleeping in that position for too long would definitely make her sore.
Lu Mingfei squatted down in front of Ling, his right hand went around her waist, his palm against her shoulder, and gently pulled her head towards his shoulder. Ling's breath was blowing on his neck, and Lu Mingfei felt the blood in his carotid artery boiling.
Calm down. You've already moved a lot of people when you were in NERV's logistics department. Be professional!
Lu Mingfei slipped his left hand through Ling's knee and gathered her legs in his arms. As he stood up, his body sank slightly, and his arm slipped down. Lu Mingfei didn't have a free hand to support her, so he could only pull her closer to him.
Everything was surprisingly easy. Anyone who has moved people before knows that because an unconscious person is "soft," moving a person is actually the most strenuous task when it comes to objects of equal weight, without the cooperation of others.
He walked to the bedside, first placed Ling on the bed, then supported her head with one hand and put his other arm around her waist, slowly lowering her down.
Zero's arms encircled his neck, like a female companion asking for a kiss after a romantic dance.
Lu Mingfei kissed the Sleeping Beauty as if possessed. The Sleeping Beauty in the fairy tale had shining golden hair, a flawless face, and was as pure as a work of art. Her beautiful blue eyes reflected the image of a boy, her prince, her destined one.
"Shall we continue?"
"My mom wants me to be responsible for girls and not have premarital sex!"
Lu Mingfei's heart was pounding like crazy. He picked up a thin blanket, wrapped it around her, and brushed his fingertips against her collarbone, feeling its coolness.
"When are we getting married?" Zero tried to move, but Lu Mingfei held onto the blanket tightly and didn't break free.
"Don't put up a facade, it's bad luck."
"Didn't your mom tell you that you should make promises to girls?"
My mom didn't tell me!
"We'll settle things after we defeat the Black King."
Lu Mingfei fled the girls' dormitory.
Back in dorm room 303, Lu Mingfei's legs were trembling. But before he could even catch his breath, Fingel suddenly asked, "Dude, did it?"
What are you doing, cooking? How did you know I was cooking?
"I did it," Lu Mingfei said.
"You really did it?" Fingel stood up and approached step by step.
What's going on? Do you think I can cook pre-made meals? Lu Mingfei couldn't understand what strange point Fingel was fixated on.
"Of course I'll really make it," Lu Mingfei recalled the long-lost Mapo Tofu, licked his lips, "It's quite delicious."
"Delicious? You beast!" Fingel lunged at Lu Mingfei, grabbing him by the neck. "I smell alcohol on you! Did you deliberately get her drunk?!"
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Lu Mingfei pried Fingel's hands off, ignoring his shocked expression. "She's the one who's forcing me to drink!"
"She forced you to drink!" Fingel said. "Tell me honestly, did you force her or not?"
"We're cooking! Cooking! What are you thinking about?!"
"Oh, you were cooking. I thought you were cooking..." Fingel breathed a sigh of relief, his words disjointed.
"Speaking of which, what dishes did you make? Why didn't you let your good roommate try them?" Fingel asked.
"You're dreaming. Go find your electronic girlfriend," Lu Mingfei said sarcastically.
"My virtual girlfriend can't cook."
