Chapter 117 - 116- Unbothered

Everything happened in a flash after that.

The very fact that Aiden launched a spell that dulled everyone’s senses in the royal court was a grave crime. Under that spell, he could have harmed anyone, including the King—and that’s exactly what Austin showed everyone by placing Aiden’s headless body in such a manner that it seemed that he intended to attack the king.

Naturally, it wasn’t the case but since everyone was in a daze, no one noticed.

About the thing he said about Marilyn? Well, that definitely was a lie. Austin transmigrated quite late in the story, and the previous owner didn’t know anything about Aiden about his previous life when he used to live in slums.

Austin just wanted to harm Aiden; both physically and mentally.

In reality, Austin wanted to torture the piece of crap more. He wanted to take his sweet time to slowly pluck each of his limbs, then slowly take out both of his eyes, then slice off that tongue, and then...but his wishes didn’t come true because the effect of the spell was wearing down.

Since Austin would have been prohibited from killing Aiden if others had regained their senses, he had to finish the job instantly. And now, he can only live in regret for not being able to painfully kill that being who dared raise his eyes toward his beloved.

And now, things were slowly getting back on track—or so Austin hoped.@@@@

...

"Young master...are you sure we should leave tomorrow?"

As they advanced toward Austin’s room, Sebastian asked worryingly.

Austin told him and Valerie that they would be leaving tomorrow, early morning.

Valerie was currently with her father and the other who came from the academy are staying in the palace as well—they will also return tomorrow morning.

"The tournament officially begins the day after tomorrow, and I need to be there tomorrow anyhow or I would be disqualified." Austin casually responded. However, his casual demeanor worried the older one.

Adam heaved a sigh before he stopped before his daughter and told her, "Look, Val...I was wrong. I shouldn’t have brought that up...however, can you blame me? That bastard used a skill on me and I got manipulated." The man generally doesn’t use cuss words, however, if he sounds hateful toward the man his daughter is disgusted with...he would probably get forgiven.

Right?

Valerie narrowed her gaze as she stated, "Austin told me the application of that skill. Unless one has subtle feelings about something, Aiden wouldn’t have been able to exploit it. Which means, you actually thought that Austin isn’t worthy of me."

Adam’s mouth was parted in shock, but just as he saw his daughter walking away, he hurriedly voiced, "B-But can you blame me? You are the only child I have and someone who holds the potential to register her name in the golden book of history. On the other hand, all I have seen that brat-" Valerie glared at him, which made the man falter,

"-T-that boy do all his life is to get jealous of your achievements."

Valerie crossed her arms on her bosom as she said, "But is he like that?"

Adam instantly shook his head, "He has changed, I can see. He cares about you and his personality has taken quite a massive turn as well. Now, I can proudly call him my son-in-law, hahaha!"

Seeing the subtle smile appearing on his daughter’s face, the man knew that he was heading in the right direction, so he added, "How about you bring him home someday? Your mother really wants to meet her son-in-law, too."

Valerie lowered her gaze as she muttered, "I will ask him. Now, father, you should go and rest."

Adam smilingly nodded; at least she called him ’father’ softly.

As the man turned around and began walking out of the palace, he couldn’t help but think,

’What a day has come....I had to use Austin’s name to gain my daughter’s forgiveness....such a cruel world.’
