168- Deployment
168- Deployment
In the Planet Master Space.Dian was looking at something before he realized what was going on.
“Another Star Child is being chosen from the enemy’s side.” Dian murmured as he knew one card of his enemy. It was the same card as his, Cosmic Fog (D). So he needed his civilization units to explore the entire star system to open the cosmic fog.
But another card surprised him. It was something used for the races with a high reproduction rate since the effect was simple but powerful.
[Card Name: Advanced Reproductive Capability
Card Level: D-level
Type: Passive
Effect: Increasing the reproductive capability of the main races. Consume bioenergy and vitality to reproduce faster, so it is advised not to overwork the races to reproduce.]
This was a standard card for those races that had high reproductive capability. One aspect of using this card was that the Planet Master wanted to widen the net to make the Star Child appear faster and in larger numbers.
The second aspect was that the race that the Planet Master managed was actually strong, with a large number, just like Gling or Rodent. Their numbers were what made them strong.
Of course, Dian still had a question about two of the enemy Planet Master’s cards, but he could make an assumption that it was related to turning the tide in case his main plan failed.
Of course, if the Rodent Planet Master dared to show his trump card, Dian would shove it back with his Great Luck (D) right into his face.
Dian looked up and saw that the Planet Master was screeching as his subordinates were tapping into the Planet Master System, trying to do something.
“Hmph, they are lucky that a newborn Star Child has been rising in both power and influence.” Chikara who oversaw the battlefield between her race and the allied races under the Rodents, could understand what was going on.
“Don’t underestimate any variable, Chikara. Didn’t I tell you that often?” Dian reprimanded her.
Chikara stuck her tongue out, but her expression was still one of excitement.
“But the fight with them makes my blood boil.”
Dian actually understood Chikara. The thrill of battle was something that he understood since some of the humans he had observed were battle maniacs. The rush of adrenaline as well as the dance at the edge between life and death, the equal battle where every action and every intent was being read, that was probably why they turned out this way.
“Look carefully at that new Star Child. He is in the growing phase. Left unattended and he would become the biggest variable in this Star Battle.” Dian pointed toward the child whose age was categorized as still minor but had to go to the frontline for the civilization.
Mazdari who was staying silent then saw the child before he saw the entire battle theater and frowned.
“The Rodents are losing so they started to rely on propaganda to keep morale high. They probably wanted to bide their time for our civilization to be infected with Neurax Worms.”
Leif interjected, “But we are exterminating the worms with the virus. Did they have a lag in information…creating an information gap?”
Smirth snickered, “Heh, they are actually using this opportunity to push themselves and us to the limit. Sadly, we have the advantage in information flow and the movement of our entire fleets. What they are doing will exhaust their own resources and vitality.”
Dian listened as his subordinate said something. The true way to treat your subordinate Planet Master was to let them join in the few activity that were allowed and allowed them to learn new things. After all, they could be considered to be another entity with their own minds and ideas.
But Dian saw on the Forum that most Planet Masters treated their subordinates quite poorly and this became a trend.
Dian even thought about this quite often but with limited information, he stopped and pushed this to the back of his mind.
Then he glanced at Frie, who was at his right side.
“Is something the matter?” Dian asked.
Frie was looking at the star chart when Dian asked. She turned her head, looking him in the eye, and said, “Do you plan for the war to end soon or later?”
Hearing the question, Dian knew that Frie had gleaned something. So he decided to be honest and replied.
“Of course, I want to end this battle soon. But as you can see, the enemy civilization is fiercely resisting us. We gauged their maximum capability by sending the Glings biological spaceships toward Rodentia but that is just the first wave.
“The second wave consists of the undead, which are coming from the Zenollium. But I plan to combine it with the rest of the Federation Fleets to make sure that there is no retreat path for them.”
Frie quickly interjected, “But if you cut off their retreat, won’t they resist strongly? How would you deal with that?”
“The very thing they tried to do to us. This time, it is a reverse infection.” Dian said with a serious tone.
“The Neurax Worm…” Frie’s breath came to a halt. She could not believe that Dian agreed to do this. Reversing the infected and then making those Neurax Worms infect their enemy, that felt like a retribution to those who used it.
“Yes. Other than eliminating the Neurax Worms, I have ordered them to communicate with the remnants. It is filled with negotiation and of course, our side gained more in this.” Dian shook his head as he saw the transparent glass tube on the Federation’s spaceship.
Currently, the Federation was shipping those altered Neurax Worms, trying to use them against the very same civilization that resorted to using them.
Disaster, since the altered Neurax Worm had been modified greatly according to the human’s violent aesthetic. It meant faster transmission, more resistant to medicine and could evolve if the conditions allowed.
This was the work of humans, and Dian was proud to let them do it. It meant that they could independently develop without his instruction, and this was feasible for him and for his race.
Frie was stunned, but then again, they were really merciful, just retaliating in the same way the enemy used, and no more.
Perhaps, that was the last mercy the human could do. Otherwise, she believed that the entire enemy civilization would be annihilated, not just defeated.
“Please, spare the others.” Frie said, biting her lower lip. From what she could see, there were other races in the Rodents’ civilization, including Elves.
She even saw the Planet Master who had once become the very top management of the enemy elf in the Planet Master Space.
“That depends on their action. I cannot control that. But I think we should really try. Something tells me that merging this civilization will make ours filled with diversity.” Dian had not noticed that his deepest thought process was something that was ingrained in him.
“Please, I know you wanted to ascend to the higher rank but doing this will make things more difficult.” Arowana said with displeasure.
“Because of the races I spare?” Dian then turned his eyes toward the merfolk Planet Master and said in a tone that was definitely not asking.
Dian wanted to see something more. According to the materials he had gotten through Planet Master Service Center and the Forum, he concluded that it was hard for the main race to rule over the other races.
But Dian saw that the human under him managed to tie every race they encountered to their side. Although the process of assimilation took time, it caused everyone to be banded together under the same government and laws.
Arowana felt that bringing those Rodents would only dirty things up. But Dian knew that every race in the Star Battle was trapped in its system and he wanted to give them and the Planet Masters he encountered a chance to look at things another way.
“What I mean is that, why spare them? They are just a nuisance and…”
“That’s enough. I just want to, alright. No matter the reason, both sides are victims of the system. Is that enough?” Dian smiled but his eyes were cold.
“I am sorry for overstepping my limit.” Arowana knew that he was in the wrong but seeing the Rodents’ civilization conduct and their civilian caused Arowana to decide that eliminating them all would be a better way to show mercy.
“I know…that some of you are dissatisfied with my decision. It may make me look like a pushover…” Dian said but then was interrupted from the side.
“If you know that, why are you still doing this? Don’t take this the wrong way but we are truly grateful for you to spare us and our races.” Suddenly, Frie said this.
The others, except for Ghylea and Leif, were nodding their head.
“…let me continue first. Sparing them actually means me wanting to use their advantage to be transferred to the human race. As you all know, most of the humans are average in everything except their intelligence and imagination. That is why letting them know you is a form of learning for them.
“Most weapons that humans have produced have the trace of the dwarves in it.” Dian said a bit longer but everyone then looked at Leif and understood that he was one of the few who truly understood Dian.
“Then they also become transcendent through the undead element and fighting against the Undead Race gave them the idea of using them as summons. Don’t you see, the more the human learns, the more their intellect and imagination spring forth.”
Finally, it dawned on them that Dian wanted to be the profiteer who never took a loss. Every move he made was not out of pity but out of necessity. But this was something that only Dian and the human race could do.
In others’ minds, it was almost impossible to contain so many races under one civilization. But Dian and the human race perhaps could pull it off.
“But I think it is because the humans are excelling in what a race could do best, showing that the human is like the aspiration that the other races strive for.” Mazdari said.
“Ha, you only realized that just now?” Smirth smirked. He also knew that this was one reason why the other races submit to the human race. The most important factor was strength, followed by the development that humanity had made, incorporating the aspects of the other races.
“Of course, since you have been with me for so long, you should be able to see the negative side of humanity. They are greedy; their desire is endless and infinite. Left unchecked, they will even make the others suffer due to their greed.” Dian spoke about something that he had seen with his own eyes.
“I want them not to take things for granted, that there are things that need to be done regardless of one’s nature. Getting to know each race is one of them but to be able to learn from each other is second.” Dian whistled as he looked at the spirited human and the other races as they were striving to be of help in the Star Battle.
“They themselves are the ones responsible for creating their own future. I can give them some help but ultimately, they have to walk their own path. When that time comes…” Dian wanted to continue but he held himself.
There was something more Dian wanted to do but he was afraid that he would overstep and hinder the growth of the human race instead. So, he let those who were capable and professional do their thing.
Dian looked around and saw that his side’s Planet Masters were looking at him attentively.
Dian blinked repeatedly before he coughed up a few times due to embarrassment.
“Alright. The tandem is long enough. Let’s discuss the deployment of our races in this Star Battle.” Dian then shifted the topic back to the most important one.
“Chikara, how’s your fleet faring against them?” Dian asked.
“Well, they are surprisingly capable of holding against my fleets of biological spaceship with some even carrying transcendent energy. But they are showing signs of war weariness.” Chikara grinned and proudly showed Dian her result like a little girl wanting to be praised.
“Accelerated Growth Serum, is it?” Dian found the main reason why the stalemate had happened but the main reason the Rodents could stand against the Gling was because of their number.
Another reason was that the Accelerated Growth Serum that the Rodents used bolstered their numbers, and the stalemate occurred. But there were signs where the Rodents were victorious.
Dian glanced at the opposite side and realized that they were so focused on their screen that they had no time to look at his side.
Dian had to admit that every creature in existence definitely had some flaws, including the human race. Their internal issue was the one that Dian felt the most difficult to solve; even now, he could not solve it completely.
“The transformed Neurax Worms are ready to be deployed to the Rodents. The result should be out soon.” Frie said as the movement of the Federation Fleets were moving toward Rodentia along with the Undead Race’s fleet.
But first, the Federation wanted to unleash the Bio-Weapon against the Rodents as retaliation for their own medicine.
“Their reactions are going to be interesting.” Dian smiled.
“Thank you for giving my race such an opportunity to grow immensely,” Ghylea said.
“No need for that. I just need you there to nip the biggest threat in the bud.” Dian said dismissively.
“But still, you allow the Undead Race to grow along with your race. That is something that I dare not imagine before. I thought that…” Ghylea wanted to say something but Dian cut it off.
“When you are on my ship, I will treat you well. That is what win-win cooperation means.”
Ghylea knew that any words would just seem like he was being superfluous so he remained silent. But the gratitude in his very being would not allow this favor to be unrepaid.
“Another interesting thing about the Rodents is that they have achieved rapid regeneration technology.” Frie then explained.
“True that. I can see that in some of the battles. But it is ultimately incomplete and we have something better. But this can be studied in depth for references.” Mazdari added.
“Speaking of which, should we do something about the budding Star Child?” Smirth asked.
When this topic came up, everyone's eyes were on him. Smirth felt like their eyes bore into him so much that he breathed heavily.
“I mean, should we spare him or should we kill him?” Smirth said with clarity.
“Why do you ask? I'm wondering about this.” Dian replied.
“There are advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that you can assimilate the destiny of the Rodent civilization, but the disadvantage is that you have to convince the Star Child first and foremost. That is not an easy thing to do, but I think I know your decision.” Smirth said with a slight smile but his eyes were focused on Dian.
“Hahaha, looks like you found out about my intention.” Dian placed his hand behind his head as he said this.
“But that’s going to be difficult. The new Star Child is still in the developing phase.” Frie frowned and showed displeasure upon hearing it.
“Exactly because of that, I think that there is a chance. We want to win the battle and also preserve as much of our enemy as possible. I believe that our races can do this.” Dian said seriously.
“Furthermore, the Neurax Worms will hit the main forces of the Rodents and it will be quite the spectacle. The only good thing is that we only aim this at the military forces.” Dian added.
He definitely did not want to hit the civilian, so he might as well target those who were definitely military. Meaning, he would have to hit the frontline and could only do this once before the Rodents develop something to negate the transformed Neurax Worms.
“As for the Star Child, with the destiny seed of his civilization and the fortune of the planet, he would not perish so easily. Instead, he would be the one to resolve the issue of the transformed Neurax Worms.” Dian said this as if he could see it with his own eyes.
Well, he had often seen the protagonist of the book in his civilization to do that after trials and tribulations so he could expect that the new Star Child could do the same.
“You’ve read too many of those cheesy books.” Frie reprimanded Dian.
“But it is the best representation of the Star Child so I have to study them.” Dian smiled, letting out his white teeth.
“Anyway, let’s watch as our Star Child will clash against the new Star Child.” Dian commented and all of them had shifted some of their focus to the frontline where the Star Child from the two sides were going to meet.
Dian sat comfortably on his throne, looking at the overall situation and the formation of the deployment of the Federation fleets.
