Chapter 143 Yamata-No-Orochi(1/?)
Chapter 143 Yamata-No-Orochi(1/?)
With the collapse of the dungeon, no one could survive, but Oliver and Emilla quickly escaped. As they emerged, sunlight struck their faces, lighting them up.
"They made it out!"
The doctor swiftly grabbed Oliver as reporters surrounded them, but the PDA quickly pushed the journalists away. The last thing Emilla saw before fainting was the ambulance rushing them away.
As they were rapidly taken to the hospital, the Hunters were promptly admitted for treatment. Three hours later, when Emilla woke up, her gaze fell on a red-eyed man sitting in a chair.
"You've finally woken up," Lucifer said with a calm smile. Emilla stared at him in shock, then her face hardened as she mourned the loss of her friends.
"It seems you've been affected," Lucifer said with understanding, his gaze serious. "I heard what happened. The deaths of most of the Hunters were... disappointing."
"Disappointing?" Emilla frowned. Lucifer nodded. "I expected something like this to happen, but it turned out worse than anticipated."
"How can you say something like that!" Emilla shouted angrily. Lucifer remained unaffected by her rage and spoke calmly. "What were you expecting me to say? Congratulations? Sorry, but that's not going to happen."
Emilla's eyes widened, and tears streamed down her face. "I-I lost my friends. How can you be so heartless?"
Lucifer looked at Emilla coldly. "It means you failed. If you had worked together, everything would have been different. If you're looking for someone to blame, blame yourselves."
Emilla, stunned and angry, couldn't understand why Lucifer was so harsh. "Owen and Benjamin betrayed us! They—they killed everyone! It's not our fault!"
Lucifer raised an amused eyebrow. "Is that so? You knew about Benjamin's betrayal from the start. If you had told Owen, you could have escaped easily. Yet you chose not to act, all because of your foolish emotions."
Hearing this, Emilla lowered her gaze. Lucifer was right about one thing. If she had warned Owen, things would have turned out differently.
No matter how much she thought about it, Emilla couldn't justify herself. She looked down, crying. Lucifer spoke calmly, "I can give you something to correct your mistakes and ensure this doesn't happen again."
Cautiously, Emilla lifted her head, looking at Lucifer with a mix of confusion and curiosity. Lucifer smiled. "You've seen magic before, haven't you? I can teach you."
"Magic?"
"Yes," Lucifer nodded. "What happened in the dungeon made one thing clear to me: you're weak. Clearing dungeons with just equipment is impossible."
Emilla frowned at his words. "I—"
"Emilla?" Oliver groaned as he woke up in the other bed, looking at Emilla and then at Lucifer with curiosity. "W-who is this guy?"
"Right, we haven't met yet, have we?" Lucifer smiled. "Well, now we have. I'm Lucifer."
"Wait! You mean the Devil?!" Oliver almost fell out of the bed but winced in pain as a sudden ache hit him. Lucifer smiled at Oliver's reaction. "Calm down, Oliver. No need to get so excited."
Though still shocked, Oliver managed to compose himself. Emilla, however, addressed Lucifer firmly. "I'll accept your offer under one condition."
"Sorry, but you're not in a position to set conditions, girl," Azazel said as he landed on Lucifer's shoulder in the form of a dove.
"A talking dove?" Oliver asked in awe. Azazel glared at him. "I'm not a dove, boy."
"From Japan? What business could they possibly have with us?" Lucifer thought aloud, looking curiously at the soldier. "Alright, you may go."
As the soldier left, Lucifer slowly made his way to the command office. Upon entering, the personnel inside quickly stood and saluted.
"Here you go, sir." A staff member handed the phone to Lucifer. He took it and answered the call, immediately hearing the voice of a Japanese man.
"Hello, sir. Am I speaking with Lucifer-sama?"
"Yes, yes, this is he."
"Good. Apologies for disturbing you, but we had to contact you regarding an urgent matter."
"What is this urgent matter?" Lucifer asked calmly, listening intently to the minister's words.
"Our country is facing a threat, forcing us to declare a state of emergency and suspend the elections."
Hearing the concern in the minister's voice, Lucifer sensed that something was amiss. Still, he remained silent, continuing to listen with interest. "Alright, I'm curious about this so-called dangerous situation. Explain."
"Good, good. We wish to meet with you in person. I hope you'll visit our beautiful country so we can provide a detailed explanation," the minister said, almost relieved. Lucifer decided to accept the invitation. "Very well, we'll set out tomorrow."
"Thank you. Have a good day." After hanging up, Lucifer turned to Azazel. "I feel like there's something off about this."
"It seems they're trying to involve you in their politics, Father," Azazel remarked sarcastically. "They probably knew they were going to lose the election, so they're using the excuse of danger to maintain their power."
Lucifer found Azazel's observation logical. After all, he had some knowledge of Japanese politics. The government had been in power for 30-40 years. Such a long tenure naturally made them reluctant to relinquish power.
"Still, what are you going to do? Knowing all this, are you really going to meet with them?" Azazel asked disdainfully, finding his father's interest in human politics foolish and unnecessary.
"If they make a good enough offer, I might help them," Lucifer said without hesitation. The idea of gaining influence in Japan, a global economic and technological powerhouse, appealed to him.
Although he already held power in the USA, it was limited to that region. He had no influence in countries like the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, or Russia. This dissatisfaction motivated Lucifer.
If he was going to save the world, humanity needed to accept his will without hesitation. Breaking governmental resistance or ensuring their submission was essential.
This way, Lucifer could move forward unimpeded and resolve any problems.
"So, you're going to this place called Japan, aren't you?" Seeing that his father had already made up his mind, Azazel stopped trying to convince him otherwise. Lucifer smiled. "Yes, it seems like it'll be interesting."
"I hope so."
Lucifer, done with Azazel, turned to the officer. "Prepare 1,000 soldiers. We're heading to Japan."
"Should we inform the government, sir?"
"Yes, yes, notify them," Lucifer said dismissively. He was already certain the media would go wild. A sudden state of emergency in Japan followed by the PDA's deployment was bound to spark a frenzy.
It wouldn't be surprising if the media churned out conspiracy theories in droves. After the orders were relayed, the officer quickly informed the necessary parties, and military ships were prepared.
The PDA mobilized and boarded the ships. Two days later, after all preparations were complete, everything was set. At Lucifer's command, the ships departed, heading toward Japan.
