Chapter 579 - 455 Consumption
Chapter 579: Chapter 455 ConsumptionUpon encountering the Mechanical God Cult, it was quite the unexpected joy to capture them directly. Lind had thought of dismantling them if they did not surrender, and upon returning to the Rand Kingdom, he planned to hand all the parts over to Dome. With so many new gadgets, Dome and the others could surely produce results after a year or so of re
Was he not fierce enough?
"We have nothing to discuss with you," the leader of the ghosts said, although his gaze shifted to Tione nearby.
"Hmm?" He beckoned Tione over.
The bewildered fiancée stepped over, standing by Lind’s side.
"You ask," Lind instructed.
"Why do you remain here?" Tione asked.
"We once lived here 800 years ago in a massive city named ’Molten Gold.’ We encountered a war, invited to participate in a chaotic battle deciding the survival of multiple races. But fearing the enemy, we turned our backs, and after losing, ’Molten Gold’ cursed us to remain here as ghosts, eternally tormented, never to rest."
Surprisingly, while Lind’s own attempts at conversation were rejected, Tione seemed to effortlessly elicit their tell-all expose.
"Could it be my charm is insufficient to trigger the plot?" Lind mused, suddenly inclined to roll a pair of dice to see if he inherently lacked charm since many NPCs he encountered along the way did not readily ally with him; most had to be defeated first.
"Are you also required, if a future inheritor of Molten Gold steps foot here, to respond to their summons?"
This was straight from the Magic Ring script, which he knew well.
Also thanks to Tione’s prior questioning, the ghost leader grudgingly gave Lind a bit of face, agreeing to answer him.
"No, we need the blessing of a powerful deity to allow our spirits to gain freedom, to find eternal peace."
Spoken lightly, even when the God of Giants appeared earlier, he couldn’t meet their needs.
Tione turned her gaze towards Lind, inquiring with her eyes.
She was emotionless, not foolish.
An average force at the third ring, immune to swords and axes, this Ghost Army could perfectly supplement the component Lind lacked with the Undead.
"Death?" Lind queried.
Probably only the Grim Reaper could meet the ghosts’ needs, securing their eternal rest.
"If you can contact the Grim Reaper..."
"We can make a covenant," Lind pondered aloud, "100 years. I will help you find a Mage of the Death Path, to assist you in achieving eternal rest."
years, not lengthy for the ghosts, but enough to revolutionize things for Lind and the help of the Undead.
"By contracting with the ghosts, you will receive a Curse!" the ghost leader warned Lind.
"Is that so? Then bring it on."
The forces numbered 300, an average strength at the third ring, equivalent to 300 Williams.
The leader’s fourth-ring strength was hardly worth mentioning.
A force like this would be too wasteful to ignore.
Currently wearing his armor deeply in his deeds, Lind was utterly unguarded, doing whatever suited him best.
This was Lind’s first time contracting with the ghosts. In his previous dealings with ghosts, whether with the Ghost Witch Selena or the ghosts within Ghost Valley, such measures were unattainable.
Soon he heard a Wailing echo in his mind, almost inaudible, like a voice transmitting through ice from 800 years ago, followed by a second wave of Wailing also mingling in. The Curse invaded Lind’s body, wrapping around his heart, attempting to burrow deep into his soul.
The two voices, one from the ghost before him, the other related to the Curse of Molten Gold City, indicated that in signing the covenant with the ghosts, Lind seemed to also bear the effects brought by that Curse.
