Chapter 553: Extermination Party, Move Out!
Delicate footsteps sounded across the room as Freeze’s handler worriedly sprinted toward his unconscious body while retrieving a top-grade health potion from her spatial bag.
"Freeze! Hey, Freeze! Stay with me!"
Fyun watched on with regret. He never expected a one-sided humiliation to occur, especially with the Valenzia Champion being the dominant one.
He, as a senior handler who had already handled more than ten regional champions from across the world, heard the news regarding Shye Crowley’s abilities.
However, the stories seemed rather absurd, so he couldn’t help but think that the Valenzians were exaggerating Shye’s accomplishments to help him make waves and put their region on the map.
How could he have expected that Shye would actually be so strong?
Fyun hoped for the fight to end in a draw or a narrow victory, as this would lead to mutual respect between the sides and a relatively peaceful resolution.
Unfortunately, what happened was a one-sided slaughter.
’I underestimated him...what a blunder...’
The way the duel ended was a huge disaster, as although the arrogant champions would more or less acknowledge Shye, Freeze would suffer.
"Aihh...This is why I’ve been against this from the start!" Nutter "lamented".
However, deep inside, she was jumping in delight.
She was from Valenzia herself, and although she wasn’t that close with her new champion yet, she couldn’t help but feel proud of his overwhelming victory.
’Hehe, take that, you arrogant people from other regions! It isn’t so hard to treat us, Valenzians, with a bit of respect now, is it?’
For the longest time, Nutter had been holding back her frustrations regarding how champions from other regions treat those from theirs.
Unfortunately, for the sake of not making fools of themselves and accomplishing the mandatory missions as smoothly as possible, none of them ever fought back, swallowing humiliation after humiliation from the arrogant champions of other regions.
Although there were a few pleasant missions where the Valenzia champions were teamed up with kind or indifferent teammates, such instances were few and far between.
This time, even Nutter panicked. Discover exclusive content at empire
She didn’t expect that her champion would be such a troublemaker when provoked.
Champions revoking their adventurer licenses? They, the handlers, would be in trouble if such things happened.
"Enough! I would not permit any more duels. We will return to the rendezvous room and discuss the clearing strategy." Fyun said in a loud voice, visibly enraged at what was happening.
Somehow, though, he found himself mostly angry at Shye for being such a troublemaker, unknowingly harboring some prejudice against Valenzians himself.
In his subconscious mind, he believed that Valenzians shouldn’t be so cocky, even if they had the skills to back it up.
...Returning to the rendezvous room under Fyun’s lead, the champions displayed a range of expressions. Rai Hou was indifferent, Mira looked worried, while Dalton, Walter, Koneko, and Freeze were furious.
As for Shye, he had an annoyingly peaceful smile on his face, further angering the four arrogant champions.
Freeze wished that he could tear Shye apart limb from limb, not realizing that he wasn’t even thinking of doing so after defeating Shye one-on-one.
Unbeknownst to the Kreborian champion, there was already a seed of fear planted within his heart.
He no longer trusted his chances of defeating Shye on his own and was planning to seek revenge with the assistance of the other champions.
...Arriving at the room, Fyun wore his "no-bullshit" face, deterring Dalton, Walter, and Koneko from trying to stir trouble.
He then took out his board marker to discuss the various formations and strategies they would use to clear each floor.
Naturally, despite its detail, the plan could never be flawless, as the information they gathered about the dungeon was never completely accurate.
There would inevitably be unforeseen circumstances that they would need to handle with grit, ingenuity, quick decisions, and of course, teamwork.
After a thorough two-hour discussion, the champions stood up from their seats.
"Any questions?" Fyun asked, glancing around at everyone in the room before continuing, "Good. Since there are none, Horza Blaidde Extermination Party, move out!"
