A whisper eerily echoed a few meters ahead, leaving the extermination party members on edge despite knowing that the voice was probably from their party leader, Shye.
A few hours ago, random voices resembling those of their teammates began whispering, screaming, and talking in distorted tones.
Sometimes the sounds came from their right, other times from their left, and occasionally from behind.@@@@
If it hadn't been for Mira, the priestess, reminding them that such tactics were typically used by high-ranked monstrous creatures of darkness to confuse parties and sow discord, they might have fallen for the very first one that tried to deceive them by screaming in Freeze's voice, seemingly under attack.
That time, Dalton nearly rushed in to assist Freeze, who was "screaming" for help. Fortunately, Mira stopped him just in time.
Otherwise, he would have been separated from the party by more than fifteen meters, which would've been the perfect chance for the creatures of the dark to rip him apart, blind and helpless.

They longed to see the light of day again, to hear the rustling of leaves and the humming of birds.
No matter which Death Zone they ventured into next, it would be far more pleasant than the current ghostly hole they were trapped in.
Barely stopping in front of the guardian room under Shye's lead, Walter raised his elemental staff, chanting words that men would never understand yet could somehow speak.
"Illumina!"
The familiar golden orb, their lone source of comforting light in the unsettling dark depths of the Horza Blaidde Mana dungeon, rose once more, as bright as it had ever been.
Yet, somehow, it also didn't seem as bright as before, seemingly being suppressed by the chilling darkness.
Walter's skill, Illumina, had met its match.
Nevertheless, it managed to illuminate a twenty-meter radius, revealing a glistening blue object behind an enormous monster.
Unfortunately, it was something that traumatized most of them, including the youngest but most reliable party leader, Shye Crowley.
If they weren't strong enough to protect themselves and their beloved, they would be slaughtered, and their bodies, which once enjoyed endless fame, could be used in a million unholy and spine-chilling ways.
'First, let's defeat this dungeon lord.'
Finally able to focus on the task at hand, Shye observed the guardian in the middle of the room, staring at them.
Its eyes were pitch black, its gaze unsettling as though peering into the depths of one's very soul in hopes of consuming it.
Fortunately for Shye, the creature appeared to possess immense destructive strength and toughness but lacked agility and intelligence. This type of creature was the easiest for him to battle.
