Chapter 600 Evolution
Chapter 600 Evolution
Upon return later that afternoon, Shye quickly returned to his office, grimacing after seeing papers piled as high as the eastern mountains.
These were all the pending paperwork awaiting his approval and confirmation signatures, mostly budget approvals and confirmation of redeemed rewards, gathering dust in his desk for almost two months now
'Sigh...here we go again...' He sighed as he sat down.
For a minimum of seven hours daily, Shye pushed himself to tackle the overwhelming workload, signing document after document.
He would stand and stretch between hours before diving back in.
Then, as night fell, he would gather the guild members in the division lounge's lobby for an assembly, reviewing their progress in both career and attributes.
Those who showed significant improvement were rewarded with small, unexpected gifts, which further deepened their loyalty to him.@@@@
He maintained this routine for about five days.
Once the mountain of paperwork was finally completed, he summoned Zeth and rode her muscular, shapely back toward the adventurer zone where Nookie was training and expanding his army of corpses.
'Sigh...I can finally gallop freely once more...' The gorgeous black mare said as her hooves thundered across the peaceful plains.
Naturally, Shye felt guilty for keeping Zeth transformed into a bracelet for two months, as familiars and tamed creatures weren't permitted inside the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon.
He was uncertain of the consequences of summoning her, thus not daring to do so.
'I apologize, Zeth. I'll make it up to you.'
'No worries, master. I understand. As long as you let me hunt for cores and consume the corpses of the creatures I kill, I can make up for the lost time due to stagnation.'
'I see, I'll allow you to hunt freely, then.'
Satisfied upon hearing her master's words, Zeth nodded and galloped a little faster, rather eager to increase her strength.
Consuming cores that could boost her combat power nearly three times faster than the consumable energies from her world, Gomparo, would be available to her only as long as her contract with her master was in effect.
As a result, she felt a sense of urgency, knowing that the so-called kings would stop at nothing to try and kill her upon her return.
She needed to grow strong enough to take more than half of them to the grave with her in their next battle, deterring any further attacks on her and her small domain.
Around an hour and a half later, Zeth and Shye arrived at Nookie's training location, the latter's eyes narrowing upon seeing the unexpected destruction.
Shye wasn't worried, however, as he could still feel that Nookie's forehead mark was active, meaning that the little necrollin was still alive.
Moreover, judging from the fresh aftermath, the battle might still be ongoing.
'Master, we can easily kill these ten weaklings. How about we lend the poor little imp a hand?'
Upon hearing Zeth's suggestion, Shye was naturally tempted.
However, he ultimately decided against it, as it was a good opportunity for the little necrollin to gain experience.
'No, let's observe for a while. We gave Nookie a life-saving item, and since the imp hasn't used it yet, it means the situation is still under control...'
'I understand, master.'
After a few seconds of rest, the two sides resumed combat.
Nookie jumped atop its favorite Ember Wyvern, soaring to the skies shakily.
It then controlled its remaining two (S-) ranked puppets and the (S) ranked one, making them charge towards the ten adventurers.
"Everyone, execute the plan!"
Unfortunately, it faced clever humans whose intelligence and flawless teamwork were their greatest strengths.
Thus, the (S) ranked puppet—a Bloodwyrm—that was hunted and gifted to it by Zeth, fell into a trap and was immobilized momentarily
"Gardo, now!"
"Hmph! I already know what to do! I don't need you yelling at me!"
Soon after, a muscular man, presumably Gardo, charged past the trapped Bloodwyrm and collided head-on with the charging Void Elk, using the buffs from the party's priest and his sturdy tower shield.
To everyone's surprise, the massive Void Elk was pushed back, its face pressed to the ground.
Then, before the man Gardo could even speak, howls and roars of various elements filled the air, producing a cacophony of chaos and destruction as ice, fire, earth, and thunder rained upon the pinned corpse, destroying it to mere bits and pieces of rotten flesh.
"No!! Bambee! My poor little Bambee!" The little necrollin cried, utterly heartbroken.
It couldn't even count how many of its puppets were destroyed by the large purge party of twenty-five high-ranked adventurers.
Yet, despite its heartbreak, it knew that as long as it was alive, it could always begin again.
Driven by fierce determination and flames of rage burning in its small heart, it cursed to the high heavens.
"You bastards! You come storming into my lair and destroy many of my cherished puppets. None of you will survive!"
[Congratulations! Your tamed monster: Necrollin Puppeteer, has unlocked its talents and evolved into a Necrollin Master Puppeteer!]
