Chapter 622: The Voidweaver and The Greatest Hero
Chapter 622: The Voidweaver and The Greatest Hero
Void energy was among the most difficult elements to harness, demanding not only patience due to its incredibly slow process but also great resolve, given the intense pain experienced during its initial entry into one’s body.
This was particularly true for mages, who, like priests and priestesses, generally had the weakest physiques among adventurers.
Worse, if one wanted to advance his/her studies in Void Magic, one would have to practice harnessing the powers of higher-quality void energies which could only be found in expert adventurer zones and death zones.
This was true even for warriors, scouts, and archers if they wanted to increase the power and level of their void-type skills.
Merely using them repeatedly like other elements wasn’t enough.
This was why the two were mesmerized as countless purple magic circles surrounded the Black Dragon in a dome-like shape, momentarily confusing the deity.
However, the next moment, it locked its eyes on Sanada, immediately determining that it was the young mage who was responsible for such an amazing feat.
It instinctively knew it needed to slay Sanada first or there would be the slightest of chances that it would lose to mere mortals.
Unfortunately, young Sanada was slightly faster and had already disappeared into one of the magic circles, preventing the Black Dragon from locking him down using space magic.
The next moment, the legend of the Voidweaver was born.
Sanada, after reappearing in another magic circle from behind the Black Dragon, flew valiantly at the monstrous deity, fear gripping his heart tightly; yet, he showed no hints of it in his actions as one word was written in his eyes: victory.
"Rending Void!" the young Sanada exclaimed, unleashing a series of void slashes that significantly damaged a single Black Dragon scale.
Then, before the monster could react, he vanished into another magic circle.
The only drawback of his skill was that he couldn’t use a magic circle two times as they would vanish after one use.
Therefore, if Sanada wanted to continue using his skill for as long as his mana allowed, he had to replace the depleted magic circles with new ones by weaving void energies without looking, all while still attacking and choosing the right magic circle to disappear into.
...The Black Dragon has had enough of Sanada’s confusing attack, thus opting to destroy all his magic circles with one strong blast of black flames, forcing Sanada to retreat while gritting his teeth after barely escaping with his little life.
Luckily, he had already done his job.
With the dragon’s scale armor now softened, the attacks of the two archers, Liiseon and Elune, began to have an impact; their arrows pierced through the shattered scales and embedded themselves moderately deep into the massive dragon’s body.
However, given how small the arrows were compared to the dragon’s immense size, it would take them quite some time to bring it down.
Good thing they made the right choice by prioritizing debuff-type arrows instead of power-type ones.
They had to whittle down the dragon’s vitality, stamina, and mana bit by bit. It was simply unrealistic to take it down swiftly even if they fired their strongest attacks at the same time.
It would be smarter to use their trump cards to finish it off rather than to weaken it.
Luckily, the time they bought was enough for the two warriors, Dweezel and Vidarr, to recover, allowing the hero party to once again assume their hunting position.
"I apologize, everyone. I did not expect such speed. I shall do better." Young Dweezel said heroically, his eyes resolute.
In the next moment, he took the initiative, charging directly at the monstrous deity with his sword and shield, surrounded by a golden aura.
"Titanium Aegis!" He exclaimed, an enormous titanium-colored shield appearing in front of him.
However, the shield lasted only one and a half seconds against the Black Dragon’s [Grand Black Fireball] before shattering into countless fragments.
Dweezel was sent crashing to the ground once again, with clouds of dust billowing around him, leaving his fate uncertain.
Witnessing the greatest hero’s "contributions" Shye’s brows furrowed.
"This is...Dweezel Hawkins? Why the f*ck is he so incompetent?"
