Chapter 629 Pressed Hard

Chapter 629 Pressed Hard

Cold winds howled as the night's chilling darkness engulfed the world, with the sun momentarily retreating from its kingly duties.

Beneath the now shadowed skies, two humanoid figures—who could easily be mistaken for spawns from hell—stood facing each other.

The two were naturally Shye and Reginald who were about to begin their all-out clash after a rather fierce exchange of words.

They somehow secretly hated each other's guts, but only due to the fact that they had not known each other on a deeper, more personal level.

Today was their best opportunity to settle their differences like true men: through a fierce battle, forging the closest of friendships afterward.

The next moment, both combatants disappeared, Shye reappearing at the area where Reginald previously stood.

'Tch, still a bit too slow, huh?' He thought inwardly, regretting the fact that he allowed his opponent to once more disappear into the shadows.

Once again, Shye could do nothing but wait for Reginald to show himself as his [Mana Pulse], for once, was useless as heck.

'Or I could...'

An idea entered Shye's mind.

'If you won't come out, then I'll make you!'

With a single flap of his wings, Shye soared to the skies, staying afloat with the help of his other skill [Flight].

He then exchanged both greatswords for elemental staffs.

'Hmm... these are getting pretty outdated... Even my greatswords aren't holding up as well as they used to... I should request new ones soon...' Shye thought inwardly as he aimed both staffs towards the ground.@@@@

'Fire Bomb Assault! Frozen Thorn Barrage!'

With a tremendous increase in his intelligence and wisdom attributes, the firebombs and frozen thorns that materialized in front of Shye grew way larger, astonishing even him, the caster.

The firebombs had expanded to four meters in diameter, while the frozen thorns had grown to a thickness of three meters and a length of five meters.

They were cataclysmic in size.

Once the firebombs exploded and the frozen thorns shattered into multiple smaller shards, they would be way more destructive.

Shye actually felt slightly worried for Reginald.

The crater could've been him!

It seemed that after being outsmarted in their first clash, Shye wasn't willing to take any more chances.

Now, it was up to Reginald to prove whether he could survive Shye's relentless attacks.

Shye, having lost any sense of restraint, was determined not to hold back or accept defeat.

'Hey, hey, isn't this supposed to be a friendly spar?' Reginald thought as he charged toward Shye.

His speed was now far greater than before, thanks to the mysterious red and black vapor, while the black runes had significantly enhanced his dexterity and strength.

He naturally had a plan that involved the phantom so he had to act before it timed out.

Unfortunately for him, Shye had other plans. He had always ignored Reginald's phantoms as they posed little threat to him.

However, looking back, the darned phantoms had been the source of all his troubles.

It was better to destroy them. It wasn't that difficult anyway.

Shye didn't even need to swap his greatswords with elemental staffs to enhance his spells' destructive powers, simply casting a fireball with Adamance to obliterate the phantom.

'Tch, why now?' Reginald clicked his tongue in annoyance.

Shye had always ignored Reginald's phantoms in their previous encounters, which led Reginald to believe he could use the phantom for a counteroffensive.

Unfortunately, this time Shye decided to destroy the phantom, preventing Reginald from executing his plan.

As a result, he had to stop his advance and momentarily fall back.

Shye, however, was done playing Reginald's games.

Based on how Reginald never dared to fight him head-on despite such flawless combat techniques was proof that his offensive capabilities were only so-so, and although Reginald might have a skill or two that could instantly defeat him, he had his countermeasures for that.

After careful analysis, Shye determined that the best strategy was to stop hesitating and pursue Reginald aggressively, attacking him with a straightforward approach.

This way, Reginald would have fewer opportunities to employ tricks and tactics.

Realizing that Shye was now pursuing him as though a hunting hound, a shadow of a smile emerged on the scout's face.

'Fine, come chase me then, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn...'
