Chapter 4: Dumbledore and the Silent Witch
Chapter 4: Dumbledore and the Silent Witch
Dengdengdengdengburido?!
Loila felt dizzy and almost fainted on the bed.
Dumbledore is here?!
Why?! She stared at Lupin, her face pale, her blue eyes filled with astonishment.
You...you already know?
And the fact that Dumbledore was still there means that Lord Grindelwald...
Her lips trembled as she tried to ask something, but she couldn't utter a sound for a long time.
I don't even have a wand yet I have to face Dumbledore... Isn't that a bit too unfair?
Forget about some once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, at least give yourself a fair chance to compete, right?
Instead of being imprisoned here like a prisoner, waiting for Dumbledore to come and execute him!
"Don't be afraid," Lupin said gently, looking at Royla, whose face had suddenly turned pale. "Headmaster Dumbledore is a gentle man."
"He won't be too angry," he said, pausing for a moment. "After all, nobody wants this kind of thing to happen."
"This...thing..." Loira took a deep breath. Who betrayed Lord Grindelwald? They even betrayed...something as simple as her waiting for an opportunity...
Her mind was in complete chaos, and she didn't even realize that she and Lupin were not talking about the same thing.
Lupin simply assumed that the student in front of him was worried that he would be scolded by Dumbledore for his spell failure.
Looking at Loyla, whose face was covered in cold sweat, Lupin subconsciously began to wonder if Hogwarts' school rules had become this strict?
Even a girl who looks no more than second or third grader is this scared...
After thinking it over, he decided to comfort the Hufflepuff student: "Don't worry, I'll put in a good word for you."
"I've known Headmaster Dumbledore for a long time."
"..."
His words made Loila shudder.
So they've already decided to put me on trial at the Wizengamo Wizarding Council?
"Can...can we not go to Azkaban?"
After trembling for a long time, Loila said in a low voice.
"Azkaban?" Lupin paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Hahahaha... You're not some dark wizard, so how did you end up in Azkaban?"
"According to Hogwarts' rules, it should only be a few points deducted," he said, shrugging. "I had my fair share of points deducted from Gryffindor back in the day."
"While it's not exactly glorious... it certainly doesn't warrant going to Azkaban."
"It was just a spell malfunction."
The spell failed?
Loila suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, as if she had grasped a glimmer of hope... Yes, yes!
They had no idea about Lord Grindelwald's plans, and they'd never even seen me! After all, I'd been in Nurmengard ever since I joined Lord Grindelwald's ranks...
Although it's not something to be proud of, it has come in very handy now!
That's right...that's right...it was just a spell malfunction...a spell malfunction...
Wait, I'm not a Hogwarts student!
Just when Loila was completely at a loss, there was a knock on the door.
"Bang bang bang".
"Remus?" came an old but energetic voice from outside the door.
"Headmaster Dumbledore is here." Lupin smiled slightly and stood up. "Please come in, Headmaster Dumbledore."
As soon as the words were spoken, the door to the room was pushed open.
What came into Loila's view was a tall, elderly man with white hair and a long beard that reached his waist. He wore glasses and a blue robe, and looked energetic and wise.
but……
Royla remembers Dumbledore as a young man!
Who is this old man in front of me?!
Was he Dumbledore's father?
She hesitated for a moment, pursed her lips, and exchanged a few glances with Dumbledore in her blue eyes. Then she felt a kind of spell coming over her.
Mind control...
Dumbledore was cleverly trying to see into Royla's mind, but fortunately, as a Durmstrang student, she had already mastered Occlumency.
"Miss Hamilton, I'm sorry." Dumbledore seemed to realize this as well, and he smiled slightly before apologizing.
"Headmaster Dumbledore?" Lupin looked at the scene before him with some confusion, seemingly unaware of what was happening.
"Remus...could you wait outside for a moment?" Dumbledore said, stepping into the room. "I have something I'd like to discuss with Miss Hamilton alone."
"I understand..." Lu Ping nodded slightly upon hearing this, but before leaving the room, he whispered, "After all, she's just a student."
"Don't blame her too much, Headmaster Dumbledore."
"Of course I know, Remus." Dumbledore nodded with a smile, but Lupin seemed unaware of the meaning behind that smile.
"Clatter".
As the door closed, Dumbledore's smile slowly faded. He walked up to Loira and began to examine her thoughtfully.
"As expected." He nodded, looking at Loila's drooping, pointed ears.
"Miss Loila Hamilton," he said softly, "that's your name, isn't it?"
"Hmm..." Loila pursed her lips and shrank back. She swore that if Dumbledore revealed her identity, she would immediately pounce on him and bite off his ear...
The premise is that he is the Dumbledore that Royla knows...
What if it's someone with the same name, or someone who is Dumbledore's father or something?
Loila didn't believe that Mr. Grindelwald's enemy was this old man in front of her... even though they did look somewhat alike.
"Interesting." Dumbledore paused for a few seconds before giving his answer: "Fifty years have passed... and nothing has changed at all."
"Fifty... years?" Loila paused for a moment, then her eyes widened.
"It's the end of June 1992," Dumbledore paused, then said, "Fifty years have passed since you disappeared."
Fifty years?
Does that mean I disappeared in 1942? But I clearly remember... it was 1945... wait...
Now doesn't seem like the time to worry about these things, does it?
Could it be that I've been unconscious for fifty years without even realizing it? That means fifty years have passed since my conversation with Lord Grindelwald?!
Lord Grindelwald's mission... Fifty years have passed, is Lord Grindelwald still alive?
"Then Grindelwald..." Loila instinctively wanted to ask about Grindelwald's whereabouts, but she immediately realized who she was facing.
"Grindelwald has been defeated and imprisoned," Dumbledore said reassuringly. "And the dark rule he established in Europe is no more."
In his eyes, Loila seemed to be just someone living in the shadows of the past.
So, did Lord Grindelwald really... lose?
Loila bit her lip, forcing herself not to cry out in pain, but tears still slowly streamed down her face.
He had betrayed Lord Grindelwald's trust for fifty years... and... he clearly trusted him completely... waiting for him to complete his mission...
Dumbledore seemed to say something again, but Loila couldn't hear him anymore... She was completely immersed in the fifty years that had passed, after all, for her it was not just fifty years.
For her, it still meant betraying someone's trust for fifty years... This is too heavy a burden for someone who has almost never been trusted.
Finally, Dumbledore seemed to leave, and Lupin seemed to come in and say something, but Royla didn't hear a word of it.
She didn't come to her senses until the next ray of sunlight arrived.
"No... I absolutely cannot give up..."
