Chapter 30: Old Burke, you bastard...
Chapter 30: Old Burke, you bastard...
"Mr. Burke!" Parkinson rushed over immediately upon hearing this, and several Aurors around Lucius also ran over.
"..." Lucius pursed his lips and subconsciously wanted to leave, but Parkinson seemed to realize something and turned his head back: "Mr. Malfoy... you'd better not do anything suspicious."
His words made Lucius take a deep breath. Although his face was pale, he did stop his boots from moving for a moment.
"Miss Hammill, you said he just tried to break this magic circle?" Parkinson walked to Loila's side, holding up his wand and staring intently at Burke.
"No...that's right," Loila said, pursing her lips.
Loila never expected that Mr. Burke would be so bold... to destroy evidence of a crime right in front of the Aurors...
Loila couldn't help but feel a little admiration, but unfortunately, admiration couldn't make Loila let his behavior go unchecked. Whether it was randomly destroying the magic circle or trying to evade inspection, both were very serious crimes.
In particular, Loila felt that the crime of destroying a magic circle deserved to be punished with the Cruciatus Curse...
Besides, I haven't even properly studied this magic circle yet...
Loila pursed her lips, lowered her body slightly, and walked to the counter. As she raised her wand, a faint light shone.
"What kind of magic circle is this?" Mr. Parkinson glared at the immobilized Burke, then asked, "Can you activate it?"
"Yes...yes," Loila whispered.
This is also a combination of multiple magic arrays, including a locking magic array...
However, this magic lock array is of a very simple type.
Loila took out her spatial expansion book from her bosom and slowly opened it.
He slowly took out a small bottle amidst the Aurors' astonished gazes.
"This is the blood of an eight-legged monster. It can disable simple magic arrays without damaging other magic arrays. It is usually used to correct magic arrays that have been drawn incorrectly..." Loila subconsciously began to explain, but she immediately realized that the Aurors around her were not Miss Lovegood.
Even Mr. Parkinson looked bewildered.
Loila lowered her head somewhat awkwardly, hiding her burning red face in the shadows.
She had to correct this bad habit... She couldn't discuss these unpleasant things in front of others anymore... She reminded herself again and again, then picked up the small bottle and flicked it gently.
"Sizzle!"
A piercing sound came from the magic circle, causing the Aurors to instinctively frown and cover their ears.
But Loila nodded slightly. Yes... just like what she saw... it seemed the sound of the train whistle indicated that the eight-legged monster's blood had taken effect... Then she raised her wand and drew a sword-shaped symbol on the magic circle.
"Buzz!" The sword-shaped symbol glowed faintly, and then a loud bang came from the floor beneath Loila's feet.
"Back off!" Parkinson realized what was happening and quickly took a few steps back, pulling up Loila, who was squatting there in a daze.
"Ugh!" Loila was pulled down and her head hit Parkinson's leg.
"Miss Hamel...you should be careful," Parkinson said in a low voice, extending a hand.
"Th...thank you..." Loila pursed her lips and stood up, holding onto the counter. If Mr. Parkinson hadn't pulled her up, she might have tumbled down the stairs.
It seems I've caused trouble for others again.
Parkinson chuckled softly, "It's nothing... You've really done me a big favor." He glanced at the staircase leading underground, "There are definitely a lot of illegal magical items here."
"Hmm... I should... I should..." Looking at the easygoing Parkinson's patient face, Loila subconsciously recalled the thoughts she had had about him in her mind before... It seemed a little embarrassing.
She shrank back and watched as the Aurors followed Parkinson down the tunnel.
Wait, shouldn't I go down and check too? But isn't Mr. Parkinson's friend still here...? She glanced at Lucius, who was standing at the door with a strange expression.
Just then, Mr. Parkinson's voice came from below: "Miss Hamel... there seems to be quite a lot of stuff here..."
"Okay...okay!" Loila responded at the top of her lungs, but Parkinson still didn't seem to hear her.
"Are you up there, Miss Hamel?"
Upon hearing Mr. Parkinson's voice again, Loila quickened her pace and followed.
As Loila left, the Boginbock shop suddenly fell silent.
Only Lucius and the frozen Burke remained.
"Tsk..." Lucius walked over to Burke, glanced at the immobile old man, and shook his head. "What a pitiful fellow..."
Old Burke is definitely finished... Lucius thought to himself as he slowly took out a small box from his pocket.
"I suppose you wouldn't mind collecting more, would you?" he said, placing the box on the table while taking out one Gallon after another from a box under the counter with his other hand.
"Consider it a sale," he said, shrugging. "50 Galleons in total..."
"Then the box is yours too." Lucius smirked and slowly stood up, his cane lightly tapping Burke's chest as he suddenly remembered something.
"A professor from Hogwarts?" he muttered, glancing at the Space Scroll lying open on the table.
"I can also help you with something." He raised an eyebrow at Bock, then slowly took out a notebook from his pocket. It looked dirty and didn't seem like something a respectable person like him should have.
He weighed the notebook in his hand, then gave a meaningful smile.
………………
"Mr. Burke, these items are all in violation of the Ministry of Magic's regulations," Mr. Parkinson said, pointing to the boxes the Aurors were carrying behind him. "We must confiscate them."
"And then..." he coughed, "you have a large number of dark magic items in your possession."
"We need to conduct a thorough investigation of your store," he said, nodding to the Aurors around him.
The Aurors quickly waved their wands and sealed the entire shop off.
Mr. Burke... with his mouth sealed by a spell, seemed to have nothing to say in rebuttal.
"Will he... be sent to Azkaban?" Loila asked quietly, following behind Mr. Parkinson, looking at Burke's appearance.
"Of course not," Parkinson chuckled. "His crimes are far from Azkaban-level; it'll probably just be a fine and some rectification, right?"
"Of course, if Miss Hamer makes any other discoveries, we will consider increasing his sentence accordingly."
"Ah...no...no." Loila quickly shook her head; she had just seen the look on Burke's face that made him want to devour her alive.
"Looks like we've exceeded our goals for today," Parkinson said, nodding with satisfaction. "It's just a shame about Lucius..."
Upon hearing his mutterings, Loila was momentarily stunned. Aren't you friends?
Hmm... Loila didn't notice Parkinson and Lucius's conversation; she automatically blocked out anything related to politics.
"Ah, Miss Hamel didn't hear anything," Parkinson shrugged and said, "I suddenly remembered something about Hagrid... Do you remember him?"
"That giant we just encountered... he's a nice guy..."
The rest of the content was automatically filtered out by Loila's ears; although it wasn't related to politics, it was just white noise.
