Chapter 206 Break Time
"Good morning, Professor Rozier." Upon seeing Shiloh, Peterson's smile slowly faded, and he took a few steps forward to stand between Loila and Shiloh.
"Good morning." Shiloh raised an eyebrow, giving Peterson a polite reply, but that politeness vanished the moment her purple eyes turned to Loira.
"Eek!" Loila shuddered and quickly shrank behind Peterson.
"I wonder what brings Professor Rozier here?" Sensing a hint of hostility in her eyes, Peterson pursed his lips and slowly said, "My cousin and I—"
"Do you really enjoy hiding behind others?" Shiloh's icy voice interrupted Peterson; she had absolutely no intention of speaking to him.
"Ah—I—" Loila cautiously peeked out, wanting to say something, but Peterson snorted and took over again: "Professor Rozier is being a bit too aggressive, isn't he?"
"As far as I know, you haven't met your cousin, have you?"
"And what about you?" Shiloh seemed annoyed by Peterson's words, and she gave a slightly sarcastic smile. "Have you met your dear cousin a few times before?"
"Are you really that familiar with her?" she asked, her voice growing softer but her words growing colder: "To let an eleven-year-old girl attend school alone in a foreign country."
"You Hamiltons are such cold creatures." She curled her lip into a smile at the grim-faced Peterson. "I have no interest in your family's affairs—"
"But you'd better not disturb me while I'm doing my thing."
"————"
These cold, threatening words immediately created a tense atmosphere in the corridor, and Loila huddled behind Peterson, unsure of what to do.
She didn't want Peterson to take the blame for her, but she couldn't muster the courage to say anything.
"Miss Loila Hamilton, if it's alright, I'd like to speak with you alone." Seeing that neither of them spoke, Shiloh slowly said, "There's no one else present—"
"Oh—good morning, professors." Before Shiloh could finish speaking, a slightly surprised voice came from behind.
The three looked over and saw Professor McGonagall with a strange expression, slowly walking over while carrying a stack of documents.
"Good morning, Professor McGonagall," Peterson said first, nodding politely to McGonagall.
"Professor McGonagall—" Shiloh raised an eyebrow and nodded slightly.
After giving them both a slight smile, McGonagall looked at Loila, who was hiding behind Peterson.
"It's a pleasure to meet you here, Professor Hamilton."
"It's a pleasure—it's a pleasure to meet you, Professor McGonagall!" Loila pursed her lips and poked her head out. She had to admit, she was indeed very happy—if Professor McGonagall hadn't come, she might have suffocated from the oppressive atmosphere.
"I have something I'd like to discuss with Professor Hamilton—" McGonagall said, glancing at the other two, then added as if remembering something, "Ah—I meant Professor Loila Hamilton."
"I understand." Peterson chuckled softly, adjusted his glasses, and said to Loila, "Then let's talk again next time, cousin."
As he spoke, he glanced at Hilo again, then turned and left.
"————"
After watching him leave expressionlessly, Shiloh turned her gaze to Loila: "I hope we can have a chance to talk privately, Miss Hamilton."
"Ugh!"
As Loila trembled, Professor Rozier nodded slightly to McGonagall and left.
Watching her leave, McGonagall remained silent for a few seconds before asking, "Professor Hamilton, did you and her—know each other before?"
"No—I don't know her!" Loila shook her head violently.
"Is that so?" McGonagall shook her head in confusion, then changed the subject: "Professor Hamilton, I heard about your first class."
"Ah—" Loila was instinctively a little scared. After all, Professor McGonagall had talked to her about her first class last year—and the result didn't seem to be very good.
I was forced to attend Mr. Lockhart's lecture —
Now what's the problem? Loila twitched her ears at the thought and looked cautiously at Professor McGonagall.
Seeing her worried expression, McGonagall smiled gently: "Don't be so afraid, Professor Hamilton."
"You did very well in your first class."
"Is it really that good?" What's wrong with me today? Did I drink Felix Felicis? Why are so many people saying my class is good?
Loila didn't think she spoke particularly well!
"For the first lesson, it was undoubtedly an excellent performance," McGonagall continued, shrugging her shoulders, her slightly aged face full of gentleness. "And I'm glad you were able to start teaching."
"This is good progress."
"Yes—yes—" Loila felt a little embarrassed. So, being a professor and being praised for simply giving lectures was actually a legitimate reason to be praised?
"However, I still want to remind you."
"Hmm?"
"I've reviewed your teaching plan. You're planning to have students create their own magic circles, right?"
"Hmm—Hmm!" Loila nodded gently. Magic array studies are not just a simple theoretical course; practice is essential!
"I'm not worried about safety—but I think you might not have thought about the materials," McGonagall said after a moment's thought. "Have you prepared the materials the students need?"
"Ah—" Professor McGonagall's words startled Loira; this was indeed a question she hadn't considered before.
Should students bring their own? Isn't that a bit too expensive? Can students afford it?
Even as a professor, I find it a bit too much to handle.
Should we provide it ourselves?
Putting everything else aside—just the Veela blood alone, even draining myself dry wouldn't be enough—not to mention all the other materials—how many would I have to buy? I just got the five Galleons; I haven't even had a chance to enjoy them yet!
Seeing Loila lost in thought, McGonagall lowered her voice slightly: "I've heard before—"
Professor Sprout is preparing to begin the new year's herbalism class.
"There are some areas in her greenhouse where she's unsure what to plant yet," McGonagall said with a slight smile. "Maybe this can help solve part of your problem?"
"Ah—thank you so much!" Loila said happily, "In that case, we only need to—only need to solve the blood problem—"
"A problem with blood?"
"Hmm—Hmm!" Loila clenched her fists as if she had made up her mind.
Let's start saving money for the students from now on!
