In a hurry, Gabriel flew back, eager to tell Dongyun and the others the good news.
"Xiaoyun, Xiaoyun, there's a town! There's a town down the mountain!"
A town?!
Upon hearing this word, Shinonome, Shima Rin, Kagamihara Nadeshiko, and Gabriel from before were all stunned.
Eh?
They must have heard correctly; Xiao Jia was talking about the town.
Suppressing his excitement, Shinonome looked at Gabriel, who had landed safely, and asked, "What kind of town? A Japanese town? An American town? A European town? A medieval town?"
"It's like a small town in Europe or America. It looks very modern, not like the dark Middle Ages."
Gabriel recalled.
She certainly wouldn't be this excited in a medieval town. Although she is an angel, the dark Middle Ages in Europe might have gone against the grain and denied her status as an angel, instead labeling her a witch.
"A small town in Europe or America..."
Shima Rin was somewhat disappointed to learn that it wasn't a Japanese town, but a European or American town.
If it were a small town in Japan, it might be her world with Nadeshiko and Kaori.
She knew that she and Xiaojia were not characters from the same work, but perhaps they shared the same worldview. It was just that she and Fuko lived in the same city, while Xiaojia lived in another city.
"Is this America? I want to eat fried chicken!"
Kagamihara Nadeshiko's focus was always on food.
Upon hearing the word "fried chicken," Dongyun couldn't help but chuckle, recalling some amusing incidents.
Fried chicken? One dollar fried chicken?
[Is this going to mean we're starting to see homeless people living like this?]
【Huh? Homeless survival, three high school girls becoming homeless? Yunye is a born homeless person, I don't think Xiaojia and the others can do it】
What does it mean that Master Yun is a born vagabond?
[Master Yun quotes Brother Sha's sayings every day: "What else could he be but a born vagrant?" He also wishes everyone who watches this episode has the potential to become a vagrant and the potential to survive in the wilderness.]
[Brother Yun, I told you not to quote Brother Sha's sayings all the time and to say auspicious things to everyone. Now look what's happened, you're really going to become a homeless person.]
With Xiao Jia around, there's no way she could be homeless. Isn't Xiao Jia an angel? There are many Christians in America; if she performs a miracle, many people will worship her. When one person attains enlightenment, even the legendary Yun Ye ascends to heaven.
[Ascension?]
[The claim of performing miracles is likely a hoax; the claim that my country could slice up its own remains a rumor, but the US might actually be capable of such a thing.]
Goodbye, stop showing off your miracles and worshipping them; they're probably just being kept in captivity.
SCP-114514 - Gabriel the Lazy Angel
[Hmm, such a smelly angel, is there even a need for this? Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!]
Dongyun glanced at the comments in front of him and raised an eyebrow at the content of the conversation.
Wandering? What wandering? With Xiao Jia around, isn't it great that they can do free shopping? As long as they're careful of American-style iaido, they can live a modern version of the Red Dead Redemption tale.
Then Xiao Jia will be the "Western Angel," and he will be the "Man of the Western Angel." Then they can talk about homeless survival, morality and rule of law 6, okay?
The four of them were exactly the standard staff at Pacific Bank.
Everyone was excited to learn that there was a small town at the foot of the mountain, but when it came to whether or not to go down the mountain to the town, they all agreed that they should not for the time being.
Being new to the area and unfamiliar with the world, they decided to proceed as planned, find a water source, set up camp nearby, and then consider whether to go down the mountain to the town.
After all, if this town is the one from "Nightmare Town" or other horror works, or even the town from "Zootopia," where there are no humans in the whole world, then they might encounter trouble and danger if they rashly enter the town.
Let's wait until we've set up camp before making further plans.
Having survived the near-death experience on the cruise ship, Dongyun decided to be more cautious. He would observe from a distance for a few days, then exchange for a telescope to observe for a while longer before sending Xiaojia into town.
They wouldn't follow Xiao Jia anymore. If there really was a problem in the town, without them holding her back, Xiao Jia, with her abundant magical power, would definitely be able to return safely.
The river that Gabriel saw from the sky was quite a distance away from them, a distance that would take them more than half an hour to walk on the ground.
There are houses ahead.
Nadeshiko Kagamihara, who was walking at the front, suddenly shouted.
"house?"
Dongyun walked quickly forward and soon saw the house that Nadeshiko had mentioned.
It's called a house, but it's actually a small wooden cabin.
"Go over and take a look?"
Gabriel came to Shinonome's side and asked.
"You go and take a look, we won't go."
Dongyun cautiously looked around, worried that the world they were in was a horror movie set.
A small town at the foot of the mountain, a cabin in the woods, and four strangers who unexpectedly arrive in this place—this setting and scene is perfect for a horror story.
"I think so."
Gabriel nodded in agreement.
It's best if she goes alone. If everyone goes with her and encounters danger, they won't be able to help her; instead, they'll need her help.
If things go wrong, she might not be able to escape even though she could have run away before.
"Be careful, watch your step, there might be a trap."
Shinonome saw Gabriel walking towards the cabin and gave her some instructions.
If this is a hunter's hut, there might be traps around it.
"I know."
Gabriel cautiously observed her surroundings and the ground beneath her feet, gradually approaching the small cabin.
The cabin was a log cabin, and it looked very dilapidated. The wooden steps in front of the door were covered with fallen leaves, and weeds grew all around it, so it didn't look like anyone lived there.
"anyone there?"
Gabriel walked up to the steps and shouted loudly.
No one responded.
She walked to the door and found that the dark red bolt on the door was in place.
no one there?
Gabriel unlatched the door and pushed open the wooden door.
A dull, dusty smell mixed with the musty smell of wood hit me.
The layout of the wooden house is clear at a glance.
A bed, a wooden table, a fireplace, and a pile of wood in the corner opposite the bed.
There were pillows and blankets on the bed, and a saw, axe, claw hammer, and a large, dilapidated toolbox on the wooden table.
However, the bed, the table, the fireplace, and the floor were all covered with a thick layer of ash. There were no footprints in the ash, so it looked like no one had been here for a long time.
It's habitable!
When Gabriel discovered that the cabin was empty and hadn't been there for a long time, she immediately realized they could stay there. It was a much better place to live than a tent.
There's a bed and a fireplace here, and it's probably quite close to the river. If nothing unexpected happens, they'll be living here for a long time as long as no one comes.
Volume 1 End Summary
Congratulations, Coca-Cola! Volume One has come to an end.
Although the writing was a bit bumpy, it at least ended smoothly. I know some people might think that the way the map was changed was abrupt, but it was actually foreshadowed. Dongyun had previously guessed that the cruise ship was a time traveler, and the problem with Xiaojia's Swiftness Technique was also due to the spacetime issues on the cruise ship, not because the Swiftness Technique was useless. The high-altitude magic ban was also foreshadowed.
Changing the map was pre-planned, and while it seems abrupt, their arrival was also quite abrupt. I was thinking of writing about landing on the island before time travel or having the system travel, but the island and the sea are essentially two different worlds. There's no spacetime turbulence on the island, and system travel would be even more of a deus ex machina. A slight spoiler: the ultimate mission in the first volume being completed in this way is an accident. By the third volume, the correct way to escape fate will likely be revealed.
Regarding character strength, Rin Sesame will definitely be buffed. She's based on Daryl from *The Walking Dead*, as you can probably guess from the previous descriptions. She won't be unstoppable; the protagonist group's combat strength and abilities have been honed through their island survival experience in the first volume. In the second volume, they'll face far fewer setbacks and it will be more enjoyable.
Shinonome is already a weak fighter; his weakness is due to the overall environment, but in the zombie apocalypse of Volume Two, his combat power is unmatched. The same goes for Nadeshiko and Kaori; they don't need strengthening. One is a strongman, the other has magical powers. Any strengthening would be at the end of Volume Two, starting in Volume Three.
Regarding the cruise ship and the walking fish, as mentioned before, the walking fish is a mini-boss, and without Xiao Jia, it's a problem that can only be solved in the mid-game. Avoiding it may be shameful, but it's useful. Even in a game, it's normal for newbies to accidentally wander into high-level maps. I can't possibly arrange the monsters on the island and in the sea according to a strict level order from the outer island to the inner island, or from the deep sea to the shallow sea. This is a "survival game," not a grind-heavy online game; unexpected events are normal.
To be honest, Dongyun and his group had been quite cautious. The cruise ship had been there for months, and they waited until Xiaojia's magical power had recovered considerably before boarding. They were already being very careful. With such a large cruise ship adrift at sea, I don't think anyone could remain calm and have no thoughts whatsoever. Especially the main characters, who were eager for spices and supplies on board.
It's not my fault; I can't possibly design it according to the game's levels, from weakest to strongest. Isn't it normal for something to happen that could kill someone if you accidentally bump into it?
The second volume is now out, it's zombies! I should be able to update more often. At the end of the first volume, I was trying to figure out how to violently make Xiao Jia kill all the walking fish, but something just didn't feel right.
I read everyone's posts. It's okay to give feedback, but please don't use abusive language. I hope you can be polite, otherwise I'll definitely gag myself.
I might adopt reasonable suggestions, and I've already adopted quite a few. As for some suggestions, I won't listen to them. No matter what you say, it's useless. If you want to enjoy it, go read the book next door; that book is more enjoyable than mine.
For the second volume, you can look forward to it. It will contain elements from classic zombie works such as Dying Light, Project Zombie, World War Z, The Walking Dead, Left 4 Dead, and The Last of Us, as well as The Long Night.
