Chapter 51 Obeying Instructions
Chapter 51 Obeying Instructions
As Mordi and Elena had predicted, the unexpected happened.
But it didn't all happen, because at the very beginning, the lucky halfling Colin stumbled upon the culprit in the kitchen.
"what!"
Upon seeing the large black rat in the kitchen, Colin let out a screech like a groundhog.
Damn it, this was the first time he had ever seen a rat as tall as him.
The rat in front of him also noticed him, let out a shriek, and suddenly grew taller, transforming into a pitch-black human figure that pounced on Colin.
Colin nimbly rolled to the side, dodging the attack from the shadowy figure.
The shadowy figure, having missed its target, did not give up. Instead, it drew a gleaming dagger and slashed at his neck once more.
The dagger traced a perfect arc before falling into a claw covered in icy blue scales.
Mo Di, who rushed over upon hearing the commotion, gripped the dagger and, with a slight effort, snapped it in two.
Seeing that things were not going well, the shadowy figure immediately withdrew its hand, intending to turn into shadow and escape from the kitchen.
But would Mordi do as he wished?
He grinned menacingly, and a heavy pressure enveloped the surroundings.
Fear Aura - Dragon's Might!
As if facing a giant dragon, the black rat-like shadow instantly stopped in its tracks, its body stiff and unable to move.
"It seems your shadow manipulation skills aren't up to par yet; you're far inferior to Edith."
Another claw covered in blood-red ice crystals scooped up the black rat, and the [Trembling Chill Curse] seeped into it, forcing the shadowy creature to reveal its true form.
This is an unremarkable face, and the clothes are not flashy, so it is obviously not a named character in the "Old Eight" series.
"Darkscale Assassin?" Colin sprang to his feet with a somersault. "That's the guy. He was just trying to put rat droppings in his food, or maybe some kind of poison."
"Then why were you in the kitchen?"
"Uh, I'm hungry, so I thought I'd eat something beforehand."
Modi glanced at the greasy chicken leg in the halfling's hand, then looked back at the Darkscale Assassin in his hand and found that the other was moving its mouth in vain.
After a moment's thought, he realized that the assassin wanted to bite down on the poison he was holding in his mouth.
"It's no use, your body has long been controlled by my cold spell."
Moreover, even if he had taken poison, Mordy, who was proficient in blood magic, could have saved him.
"Now, you'd better tell me why you Darkscale Assassins are causing trouble? Otherwise..."
He revealed a cruel expression, his gaze falling between the other person's legs, and his right hand made a forceful squeezing motion.
"I know of a form of torture called 'Ultimate Humiliation,' and you wouldn't want to experience that living thing yourself, would you?"
A ghostly voice came from the mouth of the guy in front of me who had a nice face.
Both the Darkscale Assassin and Colin couldn't help but shudder.
The halfling instinctively covered his private parts.
So, make your choice.
Under his threat, the Darkscale Assassin moved his lips and made a weak sound.
Just as the two were concentrating on listening to him, another dark figure darted out from behind the kitchen door, transforming into a petite figure in the middle, holding a short sword, and stabbed at Mo Di's seemingly unguarded back.
However, what she didn't expect was that her sword could not penetrate the dragon scales under his clothes at all.
The sensation of being bitten by a mosquito came from his back. Modi turned around, raised his arm, and elbowed the assassin behind him.
Ice shards instantly emerged from his elbow and pierced the enemy's abdomen.
"The Dark Scale Assassins, except for their ace assassins, always work in pairs, one in the open and one in the shadows. Am I right?"
He glanced at the Darkscale Assassin he was holding in his lap. This guy, who was used to draw fire, had just tried to coordinate an attack from the inside, but found that he couldn't resist the [Trembling Chill Curse] at all.
Therefore, this guy seems like a clown.
Modi pulled out the Sacrifice Axe and looked at another Darkscale Assassin.
This assassin was different from the one he had been dealing with; he was cute, had pigtails, and was a half-human.
Having taken an elbow strike and had her abdomen pierced by an icicle from his elbow, she was now kneeling on the ground, displaying a pitiful expression.
Modi had no recollection of her, nor did he know this halfling, but he was not surprised by it.
Many halflings are born assassins, but Colin is a minority.
Seeing Modi looking at her, the halfling assassin, who was kneeling on the ground, put on a pitiful expression and pretended to beg for mercy: "Spare me, I will do anything."
Damn it, the intelligence was wrong. This guy isn't a blood mage at all; he's a berserker.
"But judging from the way he's staring at me, he's probably like other men, a creature who thinks with his lower body. Maybe I can use that to my advantage..."
The halfling assassin was thinking this when he heard the man in front of him say something strange:
"Smile."
"?" She was stunned for a moment, but her survival instinct made her suppress her pain and force a sweet smile.
"Ha, I never expected to run into a man with such strange fetishes. Once I'm free, I'll definitely..."
Before she could finish her thought, the man in front of her said coldly:
"Not enough sugar, you don't pass."
Without hesitation or pity, the battle axe in his hand fell heavily as he spoke.
The halfling assassin's hasty transformation into shadow form failed to save her; instead, she was cleaved in two by the sacrificial axe burning with spirit fire.
"Is there anything else you want to say?" Modi asked the first Darkscale Assassin.
The assassin remained silent, seemingly having given up the struggle.
Seeing this, he sighed:
"I still haven't heard your answer; it's buried beneath your hesitation."
What's there to hesitate about? Think carefully: is the Darkscale Order, to which you serve, worthy of your loyalty?
Modi didn't want to use special methods, but since the assassin refused to cooperate, he really had to control him.
The voice seemed to possess a magical quality, causing the Darkscale Assassin to momentarily lose consciousness.
The Curse of Wither and the Nightmare Spell of Wendigo are ravaging his mind and stirring up his resentment towards the Darkscale Order.
"Think about it carefully. Did your secret order's master really assign tasks according to the will of fate? Did he really not accept commissions from those powerful people without authorization?"
The Darkscale Assassin's mouth opened and closed, answering his question like a puppet:
"If they truly adhered to ancient beliefs, they wouldn't allow us to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, to eliminate dissidents, or to act recklessly!"
Oh wow, I didn't expect it to be true.
Mordy gave a meaningful smile, then turned to Colin and said, "I have a question to ask him. Could you excuse yourself?"
Colin, recalling the terrifying expression on his face, nodded hastily and closed the door behind him as he left.
He could already imagine what terrible things would happen to the assassin.
In the kitchen, Modi gripped the Darkscale Assassin's neck, continuing to control him.
With the blessing of the book pages, the power to deceive people begins to take effect.
"That makes sense. If that's the case, why do you still obey these insects' orders? Why don't you... resist?"
Or are you saying you simply don't want to follow ancient beliefs?
"How is this possible?!" The Darkscale Assassin exclaimed excitedly. "I've always strived for this goal, but... but my mentor manipulated me through a symbiotic surgery."
"You're constantly thinking about getting out of this situation, aren't I right?"
Modi has let him go, but the mental destruction he has suffered continues.
"You don't want to see the ancient tenets of the Secret Order trampled by those insects, or see the Secret Order destroyed by those insects."
"Yes, yes..." The Darkscale Assassin began to sob, "If this continues, what will become of our Hermitage... in the future?"
He seemed to see a future where monasteries became tools for making money.
This was his deepest nightmare, which was now being brought to light by Modi.
At this point, the destruction of his spirit was nearly complete.
"So, in order to reclaim the ancient Assassin's Creed, you will abandon this mission, obey my orders, return to the Secret Order, and lie low, awaiting my next command."
Modi uses a declarative tone to state a fact that was not agreed upon by the person involved.
The mental destruction of the Darkscale Assassin was finally complete; his memories were covered by a layer of false memories, and he was completely transformed into the shape of Modi.
"...Eris Mosbek will follow orders."
The Darkscale Assassin named Eris lowered his head, his inner emotions calming down.
The false memory made him subconsciously ignore some details; he only knew that he had agreed to Mormontis's plan for a greater purpose.
And she temporarily became this man's proxy.
"It's all for a bigger goal," he muttered to himself.
"Next, I will remove the spells left on you by your mentor from the Secret Order. I don't need to tell you what to do when you get back."
Modi acted very quickly. Having dissected Edith before, he was quite familiar with the symbiotic organs and soon completed the removal process.
He also left a backdoor in Eris's symbiotic organ, though it was just something he did on a whim.
"It's done. By the way, let me see your task this time."
Without hesitation, Eris pulled a piece of cloth from his pocket.
The moment you receive the fabric, the unique cool and refreshing feel travels through your nerves to your brain.
"Is this the cloth woven by that loom? I heard that clothing made from it has excellent protective properties."
Turning the fabric over, a line of words appeared before his eyes.
[Slay the heinous blood mage Mormontis, who slaughtered all souls]
"Why is this text so formal? It doesn't conform to the grammar of the Eternit world at all."
Modi's mind wandered to another side at first, before he noticed the content above.
"I'm a heinous criminal, a mass murderer of countless lives? What a joke! I've always been a great benefactor; I haven't killed many people at all."
He subconsciously overlooked the two events: the massacre of Lotus Heart Village on Blue Star and the massacre of the Crow Claw Bandit Gang in the Northern Territory.
In his view, some things are not worthy of being called human.
"It seems the contents of the spinning machine have been altered by the monastic mentors; that must be it."
After returning the cloth to Eris, Mordy helped him again, and after watching him leave, he returned to the banquet venue.
After resolving the Darkscale Hermitage issue, it was almost time for the banquet to begin.
