It is important to know that among the four monarchs, the more severe the defect of one of the twins on the throne, the more powerful the other is.
Constantine was too fragile to hatch into a dragon body and could only live in human form, which was an undeniable burden in the age of dragons.
However, this also signifies Norton's power.
Xia Mi slammed her hand on the table, which immediately startled Boss Tang, who had just walked to the door.
He hesitated as he listened to the voices inside, wondering if he had offended these two old men recently.
The two of them were incredibly generous; they bought his wood carving shop for a price he couldn't refuse, using it as a temporary residence.
This left Boss Tang with absolutely no way to resist.
The only thing that bothered him was that the girl among the two kept asking him about his troublesome nephew.
This made Mr. Tang uneasy, wondering what his nephew had done wrong.
Others might not know, but he knew very well that his nephew Donald (Norton) was no ordinary man; he had robbed graves, carried guns, and hung out with some shady characters (hunters).
Several years ago, after his older brother died, they almost lost contact.
Aside from visiting his ancestral graves once a year, he spends almost all his time in the United States.
That's why Mr. Tang felt perfectly justified in not contacting his nephew.
He knew exactly what his nephew did every day and was worried that he might get into some serious trouble.
So, just now, with a heavy heart, he walked out of the wood carving shop and, quite cleverly, found a secluded spot to make a cross-border call to his nephew, Donald.
The call was not connected.
Mr. Tang looked up at the already dark sky and calculated the time in the United States. It should be broad daylight by now!
So, refusing to believe it, he made another call.
As the phone rang, it was answered.
"Uncle, what brings you to call me?" Ronald Tang, far across the ocean, was startled awake by the ringing of the phone. He rubbed his sleepy eyes, which were still covered in eye boogers, and his fluffy black hair, still half-asleep.
He was startled awake when the first ringtone sounded. He looked around at the clothes and hamburger wrappers piled up on the floor, then at the newly brightened sky outside the window, and went back to sleep.
Then came the second phone call.
He was wondering why someone was calling him. He hadn't been on the hunter website for days, and he rarely socialized, living in his own little world.
His broken English, combined with his Chinese appearance, made him a prime target for discrimination in New York.
Could it be that the IRS has discovered large sums of money flowing into him from time to time over the years and is now making him pay taxes?
Otherwise, why would they be so persistent?
The thought immediately energized Old Tang. He grabbed the phone he had tossed aside and yawned again.
I played StarCraft with my friend "Mingming" until late yesterday. Mingming is indeed a pro. He lost more than ten games in a row and couldn't get his revenge. He ended up calling Mingming "Dad" again and again.
Finally, driven by envy, he shouted that he wouldn't go home that night. However, it was nighttime for him, but daytime for the other side. He was indeed not going home that night, but he clearly couldn't hold on any longer.
After finishing his conversation with "Mingming," Lao Tang learned the good news that he had successfully enrolled in that Kassel College.
To be honest, Lao Tang had specifically looked into this school. He was afraid that "Mingming" would be fooled by the name "America" and be lured away by some dubious university.
Old Tang is different from others who have a biased view of the United States. He has lived here for several years and knows all too well what these American universities are like.
Graduating with over $100,000 in student loans is actually quite good, considering it has truly taught you knowledge and helped you build connections.
What I find most intolerable are those church universities, which are keen on admitting students without tuition fees.
However, those priests really enjoyed adopting little boys from all over the place.
Of course, little girls are fine too; they're not picky.
Kassel College, by its very nature, offered tuition waivers and scholarships.
In this day and age, which American university would shamelessly travel thousands of miles to recruit students without paying tuition?
This is very un-American, very undemocratic and unfree.
After some searching, Lao Tang quickly found information about the academy. Although the information was scattered and unsystematic, he was still relieved.
Although their president, whose name is something like "Hot," looks like an old monk and is religious, Kassel College is indeed one of the few universities that still maintains the traditions of America's glorious era.
The fact that this old principal attended various high-end gatherings and was seen embracing one socialite after another proves that he is not an old priest.
So Lao Tang felt relieved and played even more intensely with Mingming yesterday. He was also very excited for his friend after learning that Mingming had successfully enrolled in school.
Of course, the price was that he had only slept for two hours and was extremely sleepy. If it weren't for his lingering fear of the IRS, Old Tang might not have been able to get up at all.
When he saw the phone screen, Lao Tang was even more surprised.
Good news: This is not the IRS.
This is his second uncle.
To be honest, Old Tang and his uncle had almost completely lost contact. After all, one was in the United States and the other was in inland China. They were separated by the United States, the Pacific Ocean, and China. Even if they kept in touch by phone, it would be difficult to maintain their relationship.
As for Lao Tang, to be honest, he was well aware of what he had been doing. To put it bluntly, he was practically a tomb raider, and he would occasionally do illegal and taboo things.
It's detrimental to both public and private virtues. To be honest, Old Tang wouldn't be surprised if someone came knocking on his door one day.
The only thing that troubled him was that he didn't want to cause so much harm to his relatives.
So, Old Tang also intentionally cut off contact with his second uncle, only seeing him once a year when he went to sweep the tomb.
This time, his second uncle's phone call was truly unexpected.
After hesitating for a moment, he decided to answer the call.
Hearing his nephew's lazy words, Boss Tang said irritably, "I'm your uncle, can't I call you for no reason?"
"Yes, yes," Old Tang said, scratching his back, which was practically infested with lice. Then he lowered his voice and said, "Are you having some trouble? To be honest, I have a little money on hand. Don't underestimate it; it's a lot of money back home. I earn it in America and spend it here. Everyone who's used it says it's great..."
As Old Tang rambled on, he wondered if his second uncle's family was facing any difficulties, and calculated how much money he still had.
Upon calculation, he found he only had a few thousand dollars left. After arriving in the United States, he had long since adapted to local customs and become a "spendthrift." The only thing he maintained from his home country was that he didn't accumulate a mountain of debt.
Old Tang scratched his ear, wondering if this amount of money would be enough for his second uncle's family to get through an emergency. It seemed he would have to do another job with him soon.
As Mr. Tang listened to his nephew's rambling, he was so stunned that he didn't interrupt. He never expected that his nephew, who hadn't been in contact for so long, would ask for money so soon. This was a rare occurrence in China.
After the initial shock, he realized what he was saying and snapped, "What are you talking about? Do you think your second uncle called you after all this time just to borrow money? What will my older brother think of me then?"
Old Tang scratched his head, thinking of his father, and said with a hint of disappointment, "Isn't this because I was worried that something might suddenly happen to you in an emergency?"
After exchanging pleasantries, he asked again, "Uncle, what exactly happened?"
Mr. Tang gathered his thoughts and recounted how his shop had been inspected by the government time and time again recently, with all sorts of bizarre reasons given, such as water and electricity safety and intangible cultural heritage...
Then two more people from out of town arrived. Their Mandarin was so standard that they didn't seem to be from Sichuan at all. They bought the shop for a good price. Then the girl asked her nephew, Donald, about his business.
"So you said," Old Tang became serious, thinking to himself whether he had offended anyone recently, and why the questions were all about China.
“Of course I didn’t say that,” Boss Tang said seriously. “Don’t you think I’m the kind of person who would betray his nephew?”
"You're so righteous!" Old Tang complimented first, then scratched his backside, his inner irritation almost instantly rising up.
He has been sleeping poorly these past two days. Almost every night, he hears a little boy in white clothes calling him "brother" with tears in his eyes, asking, "Brother, where are you?"
Old Tang opened his mouth as if to answer, but suddenly woke up.
He checked the time and realized he had only slept for an hour. He was so angry he wanted to curse.
But an inexplicable sadness almost overwhelmed him, leaving him speechless and unable to sleep. He could only look up and count the mosquitoes on the ceiling until dawn.
This has been the case for the past few days, which is why he and Mingming have been staying up all night.
In this inexplicable state of agitation, only games could soothe his fragile heart.
Hearing his uncle's account, Old Tang became even more anxious. He quickly advised, "Uncle, please don't try to get away with this. They're really serious. Just answer whatever they ask. Don't try to put up a fight."
Mr. Tang sighed, "I was worried I wouldn't be able to handle it, so I called you to at least give you some time to prepare."
After agreeing with Lian Sheng and offering some words of comfort, Lao Tang hung up the phone. He pulled the blanket over his head, his mind a jumble of thoughts, unsure of what to do.
On the other side, after hesitating for a while, Boss Tang finally decided to take the initiative and knock on the door of the couple's room.
Chapter 144 New Dungeon: Fate Revealed
"Mr. Wang, Ms. Xia."
Mr. Tang carefully chose his words, wanting to tell his story about his nephew, so much so that he seemed somewhat distracted and didn't notice the meaningful glances in the eyes of the two people.
For Xia Mi, her hearing was enough to cover an entire block when needed. Since she had noticed Tang's unusual behavior early on, she wouldn't let it go.
That's why she overheard that touching conversation between the uncle and nephew not long ago.
To be honest, she never expected that the most ferocious of the brothers would be able to develop feelings for humans.
Xia Mi is not Lu Mingfei. It is very clear that whether it is the hunter called Lao Tang or the dragon king called Norton, they are actually just one person.
That's why Xia Mi completely gave up the idea of finding Norton.
Norton's memories had been sealed away for almost twenty years, and she was destined never to find out the details, but Xia Mi saw through the schemes in them perfectly.
No dragon king would be confused for so long after awakening, especially since "Old Tang" frequently came into contact with dragon alchemical items as a hunter, making it even more impossible.
"Mr. Tang, is there anything you want to say?" Xia Mi rested her chin on her hand, looking at "Norton's uncle" with great interest and a smile.
“Miss Xia,” Mr. Tang looked at the two people in the room. They had already paid the deposit and were just waiting for the final payment. Mr. Tang then decided to leave.
"Based on your question, I remembered some things about my nephew. I wonder if you still care about him?"
Boss Tang looked cautiously at Xia Mi's youthful face, wondering if the girl was even an adult.
“Yes, of course,” Xia Mi said boldly. Although she no longer cared about the matter, knowing some embarrassing stories about Norton was still a rare experience for her.
Normally, Norton would have a stern face and assign each of his siblings an "original sin," and for her, it was "lust," which made Xia Mi grit her teeth in hatred.
However, Xia Mi seemed somewhat helpless because Norton was indeed a little stronger than her.
She looked at Mr. Tang with a kind smile, "Mr. Tang, if there's anything you want to tell me, just say it. Don't worry, the final payment will be in your account soon."
She nudged Wang Anzhi, who was intently carving a piece of wood in his hands, and asked, "Right, senior brother?"
Wang Anzhi glanced at Xia Mi; the girl had a sweet smile, and judging by her appearance alone, she seemed like an angel descended to earth.
He nodded and looked at Boss Tang, who should have been the owner of this place but was now somewhat at a loss. "Of course, Boss Tang, this amount of money is nothing."
