Chapter 3819 The School Doctor's "Daily Life" (Thirty-Four)

Lucifer felt he couldn't stay in Marvel anymore.

On one side, Chris enthusiastically asked him if he'd like to fight Heaven and Hell again, while on the other, Mephisto relentlessly pestered him with questions about his relationship with Schiller. Why do these guys never know how to be reserved?!

Schiller also felt that he could no longer stay at the magic school.

After the battle in the Enchanted Forest, all the Batmen who went in were injured. Now the school hospital is overflowing with patients. He, the school doctor, is extremely busy, bandaging this person, disinfecting that person, and listening to their verbal sparring.

Although the initial battle didn't threaten Batman, Lucifer and Mephisto held back. But Batman isn't blind; seeing the massive commotion when Mephisto appeared, he naturally turned tail and ran.

Here's the key. Mephisto used illusion magic to create a field of lava, a spell so powerful it could even fool Lucifer. Batman, of course, couldn't see through it either. They realized they couldn't run as fast as the lava was spreading, so they weren't going to be foolish enough to run on the ground; instead, they all flew into the air.

However, most of the Batmen weren't very good at flying. They gathered together for extra lessons to practice their flying skills, but halfway through, the Lego Batman got kidnapped, and they didn't even get to practice properly. Besides, the terrain in the Enchanted Forest is much more complex than the lawn.

So the group of people weren't actually injured by Mephisto and his crew, but rather they were injured after flying up and crashing into tree branches or other people, falling down in groups.

Of course, this is only their side of the story. As a professional doctor, Schiller could certainly see that someone had deliberately driven recklessly through the air, causing the mass crash.

Although it looks like Bruce did it, it wasn't him this time. Because as soon as Mephisto appeared, he was the first to run away, not going with the main force, and therefore couldn't unleash the power of the source of chaos.

Schiller made this guess because Night Owl was the most seriously injured this time. It must have been either the main universe Batman or the Arkham Batman who sabotaged things mid-air, otherwise Night Owl wouldn't have broken his ribs.

Night Owl's injury is quite troublesome. A broken rib isn't the main problem; the key issue is that it punctured his lung. Fortunately, he was treated with magic in time; any later and he would have been in critical condition.

The others were much less seriously injured. The main universe Batman twisted his ankle, but was fine after the swelling went down; the Arkham Batman only had some scrapes, and apart from a cut on the back of his neck from a branch that bled a little, he was fine. Most of the Batmen also bumped their waists or twisted their ankles, and were fine after applying some medicine.

After Schiller finished treating them, everyone left one after another. Night Owl lay on his sickbed, longing to see them off, but unfortunately, he was too badly injured to walk.

Looking at Night Owl lying on the bed, utterly dejected, Schiller sighed. He truly didn't understand where Night Owl got the courage to challenge the main universe's Batman; he was completely powerless to resist, utterly manipulated.

The main universe's Batman sabotaged the fight from mid-air to keep Night Owl bedridden and recovering. Although the afternoon's grade-skipping exam was canceled, it still had to be taken sooner or later. Even if it could be postponed until everyone was fully recovered, Night Owl, lying in bed, had no chance to study; how could he possibly outperform the other energetic students?

Although this is a qualifying exam and doesn't involve ranking or admission, Night Owl isn't confident about every subject. For example, he'd never listened to the History of Magic and Cosmology before. He'd relied on his good memory to cram for the exams a few days before, but now he has no time to review, so his chances of passing are slim.

If all the other Batmen pass, but Owl doesn't, then Owl's progress will be slowed down again.

It can be said that since entering the school, the main universe's Batman has been fighting and grabbing, never letting go of any opportunity to hold Night Owl back, scheming and plotting, just to make Night Owl always fall behind.

So far, the results are very good. Night Owl was truly on the verge of a breakdown. These past few days, his eyes have been constantly fixed on Schiller, and whenever Schiller comes over, he asks him when he'll be better.

About three days later, Strange had almost finished repairing the Enchanted Forest before he remembered to cause trouble for Batman. But it was obviously too late. Everyone had already coordinated their stories, insisting that they went to rescue the Lego Batman, and Strange was powerless to stop them.

This deeply moved the LEGO Batman, who has been following the main universe Batman for the past few days, clearly indicating that he has joined the side of the righteous Batman. This may also be one of the main universe Batman's goals.

Don't underestimate the LEGO Batman. Although he's just a plastic miniature, he has the attributes of a comedic character, is basically invincible, and is particularly good at disrupting serious and evil atmospheres, making him the natural enemy of villains like Night Owl.

Since he couldn't cause trouble for Batman, Strange went to Schiller to ask him why he had summoned Mephisto.

"Do you think it's realistic to prevent Batman from breaking the Covenant?" Schiller asked, sitting behind his desk. "How much longer can you stop them? What other means do you have to stop them?"

Strange fell silent. He sighed and said, "I admit I underestimated them. Teaching such a group of geniuses is more difficult than I imagined. Many professors have nothing left to teach them."

"They'll soon be getting into practice. At that point, they'll inevitably want to make contact with the demons of our universe. But we can't just let them become contractors for the demons. Batman is too capable; the Sanctum Sanctorum staff can't handle him. If they just pack up and leave, we'll be dealing with a mountain of complaints."

"So you're planning to have Mephisto make a pact with them?"

“We can use Mephisto to let them understand what most of the Daedric Lords are like. That’s enough; most Batmen already know. Even if they actually form a contract, the Daedric Lords can’t take away their power. A mock exam process is sufficient.”

"It can't be that simple, can it?"

Schiller smiled and said, “Of course. Some of the mysterious beings over there are far more ruthless than those on our side. They are practically impossible to communicate with, and their minds are filled with thoughts of destroying the world. For Batman to deal with such beings and gain power from them, he needs a lot. But we only need to make them understand one thing.”

"what?"

Schiller shook his head and said, "You'll find out when the time comes."

They started discussing the grade-skipping exam again. Since it was already several days late, they couldn't delay any longer and finally decided to hold the exam tomorrow at noon.

Night Owl was stunned upon receiving the news. Although his wounds had almost healed, he hadn't studied at all; he was completely unprepared for the exam. Could he really fail?

So, ignoring his still-healing injuries, he limped to the library and began studying late into the night. Thanks to his exceptional memory, he managed to memorize most of the theoretical knowledge. But the next morning, when he got up early to practice flying, he lost control and crashed again.

This was disastrous. His ribs, which were almost healed, were fractured again. He ended up in the school hospital once more. Although he managed to get up before the exam started, the excruciating pain in his ribs made it impossible for him to perform well on the flight test, and he failed on the spot.

This exam was a qualifying exam; passing all subjects meant you could skip a grade, but failing even one subject meant you couldn't. Unfortunately, only Night Owl failed to skip a grade.

That's right, even the LEGO Batman, who doesn't seem to have great grades, skipped a grade. Because the subjects that required memorization weren't actually that difficult, and the flying lessons, which are challenging for most Batmen, were a breeze for him, he successfully skipped a grade too.

All the Batmen have now been moved up from freshman to fourth year. The school's curriculum is only five years long, with the fifth year primarily dedicated to internships, effectively jumping directly to the highest level.

Fourth grade had few students but many teachers, so on average, two or three students could be assigned to a Grand Sorcerer, essentially an elite small-class teaching system. The Batmen were also eagerly absorbing knowledge and inevitably came into contact with content related to contracts, which made Owl grit his teeth.

Keep in mind, he took a huge risk, like begging a tiger for its skin, to extract some knowledge about the Contract from Saffir. And now the other Batmen are just openly learning it? What was the point of his collusion with Saffir then?

Night Owl was truly at his wit's end. He spent all his time running into that dangerous dark forest, dealing with the terrifying black magician, but because of a small mistake, not only was his progress overtaken, but he was even showing signs of being left behind.

Seeing the main universe's Batman and his crew arriving in droves every day, with more and more Batmen being lured to their side, and even some of Night Owl's staunch supporters showing signs of wavering, he knew he couldn't let things continue like this.

One evening, he arrived near Sapphire's cottage in the Magic Forest. Seeing the light on inside, he knew Sapphire was there, so he eagerly went up and knocked on the door.

"You actually dare to come here?" Schiller narrowed his eyes and said, "Your so-called gift to me is just bringing in an angel contractor who almost destroyed my base?!"

“It’s a misunderstanding, you have to believe me,” Night Owl said through gritted teeth. “I really don’t know why angels appeared. Perhaps it’s a conspiracy by the Sorcerer Supreme. Don’t you want to know what’s going on?”

"Do you think I can count on you?" Schiller said dismissively as he turned and went back into the house. "I heard you didn't even take the exam to skip grades."

This was like stabbing Night Owl in the heart. He coughed twice in anger, making his already not fully healed ribs ache even more.

“But they are indeed a problem,” Schiller scoffed. “Especially that winged brat. He’s not in my plans and might ruin things.”

“I can help you,” Night Owl said, “but I’ve fallen into their trap and am already far behind them. I need more power.”

Schiller was silent for a moment, seemingly hesitant. After a long pause, he spoke in a low voice, "I can help you contact an extremely powerful demon god. Serve him, and you will get everything you desire."
