Chapter 3984 MU Superbody Major Event (64)
Chapter 3984 MU: The Superbody Incident (Sixty-Four)
While Constantine was on his way to the appointment, Schiller was conducting research on several planets belonging to nearby civilizations. The nearby civilizations received him with considerable hospitality. Despite humanity's lackluster reputation in the universe, most civilizations admire strength, and Earth, having single-handedly defeated three major empires, was naturally treated as an honored guest by most.
This star system happens to be home to a humanoid civilization that calls itself the Grey Elves. Even their historical development and galactic environment are similar to those of humans. They are said to have already visited the Nine Realms and are preparing to align themselves with Asgard and humanity in the Interstellar Council.
Although it was unclear how Schiller had gotten here, any human who could reach this place must be incredibly powerful. The Grey Elf King warmly invited him to tour the palace and chatted with him about recent interesting events on the planet.
"We share many similarities with humans. For example, we also experienced a long period of division, but we eventually united. We have had four major wars, each of which propelled the development of civilization. Although we are now united as one, our religious beliefs are still quite diverse. Different regions worship different gods, and therefore the magic we use varies..."
Schiller's mind raced, and he looked at the king, saying, "So, you're saying you worship the real demon god?"
The king looked puzzled, then nodded and said, “Of course. We discovered the existence of demons as early as 2000 years ago, and through tireless research, we have acquired many of their communication frequencies. We allow them to spread their faith across the planet, and they naturally reciprocate with power. Isn’t that the same for humans?”
Schiller pondered for a moment, realizing that humanity's faith wasn't truly in demons or gods; their belief was more fundamental, a direct veneration of God. While God wasn't the supreme ruler in the Marvel universe, He possessed the unique attribute of unifying all realms. Although He didn't directly grant humanity power, Earth's special place in the cosmos demonstrated God's favor towards humankind.
“We’re not quite the same.” Schiller shook his head, but didn’t elaborate. He simply said, “When I came here, I heard that a goddess recently arrived. Do you have any followers of her on your planet?”
“Oh, you mean the Goddess of Light?” the king said with a smile. “She is a rather generous lady. There are her followers among the royal family, but her main followers are on our neighboring planet. We don’t know much about her.”
Do you have a portrait of him?
"You mean the divine portraits? Of course. We sketch portraits of every deity who has ever communicated with us. However, that's just how we see them, not entirely accurate. This way, please, we can go to the Royal Chapel to take a look..."
Schiller followed the king to the Royal Chapel, where he saw all the portraits of demons they had drawn in the chapel behind it. Some were fairly accurate, while others were far too abstract. Mephisto, for example, was simply a dark flame with drifting ashes. Dormammu was drawn quite realistically, but the portrait was drawn too early; he was much thinner than he is now.
At the very end, Schiller saw a portrait of the deity whom the Grey Elves called the Goddess of Holy Light. This was a rare sight, a demon with a very concrete image. The instant he saw that face and green eyes, Schiller opened the Battle Realm's communication interface at lightning speed and called Constantine—unsurprisingly, the call was disconnected in the blink of an eye.
Schiller covered his eyes, took a deep breath, declined the king's invitation to dine, and returned to his temporary lodgings. He sent Constantine three 60-second voice messages, but unsurprisingly, he received no reply. Schiller stood by the window and sighed deeply: "Constantine, Constantine, you've ended up like this; you can't blame society for anything."
In the evening, Constantine finally returned. Schiller looked him over and, finding him unharmed, felt more disappointed than relieved. So he asked, "How did it go?"
“Just you wait,” Constantine said casually, a cigarette dangling from his lips. “We can’t really get the energy by tricking people, but I have other ways.”
Schiller was genuinely curious about how Constantine had managed to escape from Loki. Firstly, it was impossible for him not to have flirted with Loki. Loki wasn't one to back down easily; despite her inferior physique compared to the Aesir, she was still a frost giant, capable of slapping Constantine back into the solar system. Secondly, Loki's presence here was undoubtedly a sting operation. As the mastermind behind this telecom fraud involving impersonating Sanctum employees, the fact that Loki hadn't arrested him was truly astonishing.
Constantine leaned back on the sofa, took a deep drag of his cigarette, let out a satisfied sigh, and said, "What's so difficult about it? Just a little princess with inner turmoil. Speaking of which, I really didn't know that Loki in this universe is a fluid gender. Doesn't that mean she can switch between male and female at any time? That's fantastic."
Schiller was really getting annoyed by the lewd thoughts in his head, so he couldn't help but open the window to let in some fresh air. He asked, "Why didn't she kill you?"
Constantine smiled without saying a word, recalling the scene when he first met Loki.
“God,” Constantine exclaimed, his hand trembling like a drug addict as he pulled a cigarette from his pocket, only to find that there was no oxygen on this planet and the cigarette wouldn’t light. So he put the cigarette in his mouth and said, “I never expected it to be you.”
"You know me?" Loki frowned as she looked at him.
"So you don't recognize me? Okay, let me introduce myself. I'm Constantine, the Hellblazer, from the next world. Good evening, Your Highness."
Loki looked at him silently. Constantine continued, "In other universes, it's usually princes, right? I thought you were very beautiful back then, with very beautiful green eyes. But I never expected that you, as a woman, would be like this."
What do you think it will be like?
“I thought it would be more aggressive. You always seem insecure and need a tough exterior and an aggressive way of doing things to help you consolidate your position. It seems you are very well protected in this universe.”
“I wasn’t protected by anyone,” Loki said, frowning. “I just got everything I deserved.”
“I agree with that, otherwise you wouldn’t have come to see me like this. Even if you don’t know I’m Constantine, you should at least know I’m a cunning conman. You should have presented a more intimidating image, or are you determined to use your femininity?”
Loki gave him a disdainful look, but her previous plans to catch and punish this damned liar were no longer valid, because she had heard of Constantine's great reputation.
Although Schiller is renowned in the fighting world, most discussions revolve around his strength and methods; his private life, or even his personality, is largely unknown. Constantine, on the other hand, is completely different; he has no serious business dealings, only scandals about his private life.
Lucifer once bluntly told Schiller that sending an invitation to Constantine was the biggest mistake since the establishment of the fighting world. It's like not letting a pile of shit stay in the latrine, but instead giving him a lifetime free ticket to travel the world.
Schiller, upon hearing this, felt that Lucifer had lost his mind. As the epitome of arrogance, he could even compare the universe he managed to a latrine. It seemed that he was really quite angry.
Although most of the rumors about Constantine that Loki heard revolved around his lower body, the fact that he was still alive and well, not beaten to death, and still able to sleep with women despite his bad reputation, showed that he had some skill.
Just as Loki was thinking about this, Constantine spoke up: "Let me be frank, beauty. You're not a cop. The Sanctuary you created is just like me. The only difference is that it's located on Diamond Street, so you call it finance, but it's actually a scam."
"In that case, why don't we join forces? I'll lie to you, and you can lie to me. If necessary, we can work together to pull off a double act and wipe out those demons. Wouldn't that be better?"
“If you hadn’t been staring at me like that, I might have believed you,” Loki said, squinting at him. “No smart person would work with someone like you. You could turn on us at any time, cause trouble, pin all the blame on us, and then run away. You have no credibility whatsoever, sir.”
Constantine suddenly chuckled, then burst into laughter. He made a smoking motion with his cigarette dangling from his lips, then pretended to exhale smoke, and said, "Hahaha, baby, I only have one question—you've been on Diamond Street… well, I mean, in all your time on Wall Street, who has a better reputation than me?"
Loki was somewhat speechless.
"Who on Wall Street isn't someone who might betray you at any moment, cause trouble, shift the blame to someone else, and run away? In their eyes, anyone who doesn't do that is a fool. If you don't have that ability, why bother with finance?" Constantine said.
“You’re the same way. Although I’m 80% responsible for this mess, you yourselves also bear 20% responsibility for checking for loopholes. You came to me just to shift that 20% of the blame onto me, didn’t you? Don’t pretend. You don’t care which demon was deceived, and you’ve never thought about seeking justice for them. You’re just heartbroken that you didn’t manage to swindle that energy.” Constantine lifted the hem of his trench coat and said, “I have an idea that can make us even more. If you want to make money, let’s team up. As for how much we get and who will ultimately bear the responsibility, that’s up to us. How about it?”
Loki had to admit that Constantine was a master negotiator; no wonder those devils all fell for him. His negotiation style wasn't about deception or concealment, but about laying out all the facts clearly, leaving you with no room for argument, yet still making it alluring. He then directly addressed your weaknesses, exploiting everyone's deepest, irresistible desires, so that even knowing how awful he was, you couldn't refuse to cooperate with him.
Constantine was right; Loki didn't care at all which demon had been deceived. What a joke! They were just demons, mobile energy packs in the universe. One crop after another, they'd keep appearing. They were God's reward to intelligent life; what did it matter how many died?
What angered her and Strange was that the Daedric Lords had been deceived, but not by themselves. The energy that had been stolen from them should have belonged to them, but was instead taken by someone else, which was why they went to such great lengths to get it back.
But judging from the current situation, even if you kill Constantine, you might not be able to recover the energy. That scoundrel isn't so easy to kill. Spending so many resources hunting him down, only to end up with nothing, is a huge loss.
It would be better to cooperate with him. If his methods actually work, it could bring in some extra income. Thinking this, Loki said, "Alright, tell me, how do you want to cooperate?"
