Chapter 4096 MU: The Superbody Incident (173)
After saying that, Greed looked at Mephisto and said, "You guys are just outputting dream power, why don't you have someone watch over it? And you even let things from the dream dimension escape?"
"Do you want to hear what you're saying? I'm not a charity, why would I help Nightmare unleash his Dream Power?" Mephisto looked at Loki and said, "It's because you guys said that if I don't help the superheroes gain an advantage, you won't renew my membership, so I went and tricked Nightmare."
"Now that Batman wants the last Infinity Stone, of course I have to find a way to disrupt him. The best way is to fill this dimension with monsters from various dream dimensions. Releasing monsters is my goal; as for whether the dream dimensions descend into reality or not, what does that have to do with me?"
The group fell silent for a moment. Then they remembered that Mephisto had orchestrated this whole thing to help them.
“Never mind who the monster is, just tell me how strong it is,” Mephisto said. “I think it’s a good thing that it looks exactly like Schiller. Besides having a physical deterrent, it also has a psychological deterrent. After all, I…”
He stopped abruptly, then felt a greedy, deathly gaze. Mephisto coughed twice and said, "When I used to go out with Schiller's face, superheroes would run away at the sight of me; but with my own face, nobody's afraid of me even if I say I'm the most evil devil in history. Schiller, you really should reflect on your reputation..."
Greed rolled his eyes at him and said, "No matter what, those phantoms inside absolutely cannot escape. Go and call some more people, and make sure to keep a close watch on the entrance."
“But if we deploy a large force here, Batman will know that we have already found the location of the gem.”
"They can only go in, not out. They can go in, but they can't come out. Before they go in, Batman doesn't know what's inside. Even if he thinks we're setting a trap, he'll still try, since they're in the dominant position right now and can afford to take the risk."
Stark nodded, then sent a message back to command center to begin making arrangements. Meanwhile, the Dark Multiverse Batman team watched helplessly as Stark arrived with his mechanical army, bringing with him a portion of Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four.
"Damn it, that owl-man is no good!" Batwoman couldn't help but curse. "That guy is really cunning. They must have followed us here. I should have used the stealth ship."
The mechanical Batman said, "The spaceships on the other side of the Dark Dimension are not as technologically advanced as the humans in this universe. Their stealth technology is also inferior. No matter how we come over, we will be watched."
Batwoman sighed softly, then said, "This is a bit of a problem. Should we try to sneak in or call for reinforcements?"
“Let’s think of something,” said the mechanical Batman. “I can try hacking into some of the machines on the other side, creating some chaos, and then we can sneak in.”
"Jarvis is controlling the machine on the other side. Can you handle it?"
“Then let the Flash Batman go,” the Mechanical Batman said again. “Let him familiarize himself with the way. Once he gets close to the entrance, he can transport us one by one.”
“No, actually I can take you there,” said Batman Doomsday, formerly known as the Devastater. “I can briefly transform back into Doomsday and swallow you all, then we can pass through the entrance together.”
"You can turn back into your original form now? Didn't you say you couldn't before?" Batwoman looked at him with some surprise.
“I learned a couple of tricks from Helen,” said Doomsday Batman. “Actually, the reason I couldn’t change back before was because the concentration of Doomsday spores that infected me wasn’t high enough, which caused me to be stuck between the two forms. Helen gave me some more spores. Her spores are special and have a certain mimicry ability, so now I can switch forms.”
After saying that, Doomsday Batman transformed back into his original Batman form from his half-human, half-Doomsday state, appearing completely flawless. Batwoman clicked her tongue in amazement.
Batman Doomsday stretched his arms and said, "You guys clear the way for us. We should be able to kill our way through, and maybe we can even take out a few of them."
Everyone nodded. They knew that at this point, all the fancy tricks were useless; a final battle was inevitable. It was better to take advantage of their peak condition and fight the enemy to weaken their forces.
The Flash Batman went over and circled around first. When he came back, he shook his head and said, "Those mutants are all gathered on the side. They don't look like they're going to intercept us, but it could also be a scheme of theirs."
“Never mind all that, let’s give it a try,” said Batman.
A group of people emerged from the spaceship. Doomsday Batman roared and transformed back into his Doomsday form. His true form was slightly larger than Helen's miniature version, but not as powerful as Helen's fully armed version. Nevertheless, he was still an astonishing beast, swallowing a large number of mechanical weapons deployed at the dimensional entrance in one gulp.
However, Stark was clearly no pushover; detecting the intruders, even more mechanical weapons swarmed in. Besides Doomsday Batman, War Batman was also incredibly powerful; donning the War Helmet granted him divine strength, allowing him to easily wipe out large groups of enemies with a single sweep.
Some of the tougher obstacles, such as the anti-Wonder Woman armor, were either brute-forced by Batman Doomsday's massive body, or dragged away by Batman War and Batman Robot, circling around before returning. Batman Flash scouted ahead, reporting any traps he encountered in advance.
Although the mechanical army was blocking their way, they were still advancing at a considerable pace. However, what puzzled everyone was: they were almost at the entrance, so why weren't the mutants coming over?
“I understand,” Batwoman said. “They probably know we’re at our peak right now and would be at a disadvantage fighting us. Their situation is already bad, and if we take down a few more of them, it will be even worse, so they might be planning to stop us from coming out.”
Everyone agreed that this made sense. After all, Batman had told them that this was a closed dimension with only one entrance, and that blocking that entrance would make it easier to prevent them from getting out than to prevent them from getting in.
These outsiders don't know the local gods, so it's unlikely they'll give them the gems so easily; a fight is bound to happen. It's much more worthwhile to wait until the Chaos Lord and the Order Lord have weakened them before snatching the gems directly from them, rather than preventing them from entering.
“Let’s just charge in,” Batwoman said. “Let’s get the gems first.”
The group quickly reached the dimensional entrance, their figures disappearing into the shattered cracks. Stark watched them leave as he watched the monitor feed, and thinking about what they would face next, he couldn't help but mentally make the sign of the cross for them.
The Dark Quadrant is called the Dark Quadrant because it is a completely dark expanse of space, devoid of stars, and therefore lacking any light or heat. The only source of light comes from the spaceships coming and going, but one of these ships has an exceptionally long searchlight that illuminates a vast area of space.
"Make way! Make way!" A hairy green head popped out of the car window and shouted, "Urgent military situation! Can you take responsibility for delaying us?!"
After saying that, he stepped on the gas and crashed straight ahead. Before Green Lantern, piloting the spaceship, could even curse, he suddenly realized what he had just witnessed.
"Wait a minute, is that the Joker? Quick! Notify Batman!"
When the main universe's Batman receives the message that "a Joker is driving a huge truck and rampaging around the Dark Quadrant," the Joker himself is already standing in front of him.
"Bad news, absolutely terrible news!" said the Joker.
"Superman wasn't rescued?"
"Ten thousand times worse than that."
The main universe's Batman turned away without saying a word, because he knew the Joker was prone to exaggeration. As long as he ignored him and let him calm down for a while, the Joker would naturally reveal the truth.
“Schiller…”
Before Jack could finish his two words, the main universe's Batman abruptly turned around. Jack looked at him and said, "Those things under Schillera have come out!"
The main universe's Batman was stunned; at first, he didn't realize what those things at the bottom of the tower were. When he truly understood what Jack was referring to, he also realized that Jack might not have been exaggerating—this news was a million times worse.
If Superman isn't saved, he'll be resurrected in the Battle Realm. If all the morbid beings were to escape, would this universe still be worthwhile?
"What's going on?" the main universe Batman asked. "Schiller is blocking your way? Can't you talk to him properly?"
But then he remembered that it was a morbid state, and such people were incapable of listening to reason. But then he felt something was amiss; this was a universe ruled by greed, how could greed allow these dangerous elements to escape?
When the main universe's Batman heard Jack describe what happened in the dream dimension in the most concise language, he knew that things were indeed very serious, otherwise how could the Joker have learned to be so concise?
"You mean, there's a group of nightmare phantoms that are exactly like Schiller's morbidity, and they've escaped from the dream dimension and disappeared somewhere?"
“No, no, no, it’s not exactly the same,” Jack said as if he had just remembered.
Just as Batman in the main universe breathed a sigh of relief, he heard Jack say, "They're stronger than the sick; they have superpowers."
The anxiety that had been hanging over him finally subsided. The Batman of the main universe was filled with mixed emotions. He wondered if Night Owl was his nemesis; why did Night Owl's presence always bring such a mess of nonsense?
The problem now is that if these Nightmare Dreamers cause a major disturbance in the real universe and truly enrage Greed, they will definitely be in deep trouble.
The main universe's Batman knows very well that, compared to his diligent and readily available agents, Greed has been largely slacking off. Aside from possibly getting involved in the Infinity Stones' affairs, he's mostly just watching from the sidelines. To some extent, Schiller's inaction is partly to blame for the current unfavorable situation on the other side.
If Greed were to rise up now and start causing trouble, the victory that had already been secured might not necessarily fall into anyone's hands. Moreover, this guy seeks revenge from morning till night, and anyone who encounters him in the fighting world in the future is in for a lot of trouble.
"Do you know where those Nightmare Dreamers went?"
“Batman and the agents went to investigate,” Jack said, “but they felt that the two of them weren’t enough, so you might have to send some more people. These guys are attacking indiscriminately, and they’ll cause trouble soon, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find them.”
The main universe's Batman turned around and shouted, "Bruce! Bruce! Time to go to work! Take your universe's Justice League and go track down Nightmare."
Bruce was still half asleep when he was called over. He listened to the events as Batman and Jack from the main universe recounted to him, but it went in one ear and out the other, until he heard a name.
"Schiller?" Bruce asked, somewhat surprised. "What happened to Schiller?"
“Morbid,” the main universe Batman directly instilled with the keyword, “the morbidity has all come out.”
Bruce's eyeballs nearly popped out of their sockets. He exclaimed, "They've all come out?!"
Then he turned to the main universe's Batman and said, "What are you still standing here for? Pack your things and run! This universe is uninhabitable."
After saying that, Bruce tried to run away, but was caught by Batman from the main universe. He said, "Don't even think about running away. You have to find them."
Bruce's face clearly said, "Do you want to hear what you're saying?"
“If you go, I’ll give you a Batmobile, a wedding-themed one, so you can drive it to pick up Selena.”
