Chapter 672 Not So Bad, Is It?
Chapter 672 Not So Bad, Is It?
Inside a huge cave located near the peak of the windswept mountain, Shye and Aeolus stared at each other's eyes, both of them unmoving.
This is what the [Tame] skill appears like in reality—both sides are left deeply vulnerable during the struggle of wills and emotions.
Fortunately, Shye had Zeth, whom he could trust to guard his motionless body.
Meanwhile, inside the world of white...
"DIE! DIE!! DIE!!!" The silver-scaled dragon cried out in sheer frustration and desperation, retreating while unleashing a relentless barrage of projectiles, which drained its stamina and mana at a rapid pace in the endless white void.
On the other hand, the black, indestructible humanoid merely pursued the Wind Dragon without a care in the world.
It received all sorts of attacks head-on without suffering from any damage.
Shye was naturally watching the battle from the black humanoid's POV. However, every skill has its advantages and disadvantages.
Since the black humanoid was a fusion of both his present and future self, the [Tame] skill prevented him from controlling its movements.
All he could do was watch as it fought clumsily, while the skill granted the Wind Dragon the chance to fight back at full strength, despite its actual body being gravely injured and exhausted.
It was a fair fight, where the current abilities and future potential of the "master" were pitted directly against the target monster, which could use any means—cunning included—to resist being tamed.
If the black culmination of the master's present and future managed to break the monster's will, the creature would be tamed.
However, if the black humanoid was destroyed, it would signify a failed taming attempt, resulting in a severe mental backlash for the caster.
This is why taming high-ranked monsters was nearly impossible, as an ordinary human's future would almost always pale in comparison to that of high-ranked monsters, who were born with royal bloodlines, nearly indestructible bodies, and far greater attribute potential than humans could ever hope to achieve.
An adamantite-ranked adventurer taming an (A) ranked monster was already seen as a remarkable feat, while those who managed to tame (S-) ranked creatures were considered unparalleled in their generation.
Had it known that it would take nearly twenty full days to destroy the culmination, it wouldn't have allowed false hope to take root in its heart.
Its pride had indeed clouded its logical judgment; if it hadn't, Aeolus would have long since recognized that serving such a once-in-a-lifetime talent wouldn't be so terrible.
Unfortunately, a dragon was a dragon, and its first response would always be that it would rather die than submit to anybody, especially now that it had managed to dodge the last ten attacks the black humanoid threw at it.
The culmination was fighting through mere instinct, and it had finally realized that it would be inefficient to use nothing but punches and kicks to defeat the dragon.
Hence, the next moment, it did something that brought despair to the young Wind Dragon's heart: drawing what seemed to be a jet-black version of the twin greatswords Shye possessed.
Aeolus had just become accustomed to the black humanoid's basic attack patterns.
Now, it needed to readjust once more, but it was unsure if it could do so without its will crumbling due to the splitting headaches.
Even now, its head throbbed with pain as it fought.
Still, it did its best to resist, flying as high as possible to limit its opponent's attack options.
However, this tactic quickly proved ineffective, as the next moment, the culmination also took to the skies, two black angel wings emerging from its back, while the skill [Flight] enabled it to soar like the Wind Dragon.
The black humanoid...also began using skills.
Realizing that its opponent was simply toying with it, Aeolus felt its pride shatter into a million pieces, allowing logical thoughts to finally break through its thick skull.
The first thought that crossed its mind was:
'If this human is this capable, then perhaps he truly is one of those legendary figures, or at least a future legend as he claimed. Making history with a human...might not be so bad!'
This was especially so since as a Wind Dragon, it doubted its chances of making history within the dragon race, so why not make history with humans instead?
